I have been very impressed with the Philips Smart Lighting Smart Plug connected by WiZ. It is a simple and convenient way to add smart controls to lamps and other compatible household devices without replacing the device itself. The plug has worked reliably and has made it much easier to control my lighting throughout the day. Setup was straightforward. After plugging it into an outlet, connecting it through the WiZ app was quick and easy. The instructions were clear, and I did not have to spend a long time troubleshooting or adjusting complicated settings. Once connected, the plug responded quickly to commands from the app. One of my favorite features is the ability to create schedules and automations. I can have a lamp turn on in the evening, switch off automatically at bedtime, or follow a customized daily routine. This is especially useful when I am away from home because I can set lights to turn on at certain times and make the house appear occupied. The remote-control feature is also very convenient. Instead of walking across the room to turn a lamp on or off, I can control it from my phone or use a voice command. It is a small upgrade, but it makes a noticeable difference in everyday convenience. I also appreciate the compatibility with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home. This is the stupidest product Philips has done so far. This is NOT compatible with Philips hue, which at the price I've paid to equip my house with Philips, I would expect their smart plug to be compatible with their OWN ecosystem. Philips better get better with their product, at this pace, they are making me wanting to leave their ecosystem and switch to their competitors, cheaper and more modern

This is a smart device worth having for your home automation. The big reason being it supports matter. A lot of the low end devices require you to install an app and then maybe or maybe not it will work with your home automation. Some of these other devices (*cough*ring*cough) are so proprietary they are just trash material. Not so here. This was super easy to integrate to my Home Assistant environment. Works well and connectivity has been solid. The device is on the clunkier side, but no more so than any of the TP-Link/Kasa devices. I wish someone would come out with a smaller plug but that's a difference issue. I like this, albeit a bit pricier, I'd still recommend this over Kasa.

I grabbed this Philips Smart Plug because my bedside lamp kept getting tangled with cords and I wanted a way to turn it off from my phone. The box was tiny, just a single plug and a quick-start card—no huge packaging waste. I popped it into my wall socket and the WiZ app instantly recognized it, asking me to name it something like “BedLamp.” Setting up the automation was a breeze; I linked it to my Alexa routine so the light dims at 10pm without lifting a finger. A few days later I tried the manual control from the app while I was in another room, and the response was almost instant—no noticeable lag. Honestly, I was skeptical about voice commands working through the plug, but Alexa understands “turn off bedroom light” perfectly. The plug itself feels solid, not that cheap plastic you see in some cheaper smart devices. I appreciate that it supports both local control and cloud sync, so it’s not completely dependent on internet uptime. The only thing that could be better is that the app sometimes prompts for a firmware update when the plug is already up‑to‑date, which can be a bit annoying. Overall, it’s a tiny device that actually makes a big difference in my nightly routine. I’d say it’s worth the $20‑odd dollars if you want plug‑and‑play smart lighting without buying a whole new bulb system. The only downside is the lack of a physical on/off switch on the plug itself, so you’ve got to rely on the app or voice. So far, the Philips Smart Lighting Smart Plug is working as I expected. It's a very simple tool--plug it in, pair it with whatever control app you prefer, and it can be used to turn the device of your choosing on and off. I selected this plug because I like to set up lights on a timer when I'm out of town. I also plan on using it occasionally to start my coffee machine going when I need to be out of the house very early. My coffee maker is very simple: if I fill it with water and coffee grounds, and put the switch in the "on" position, I can use this plug to get the coffee brewing while I'm still in bed. As soon as I took the plug out of the box, I first tried pairing it with the "Home" app that comes standard on my iPhone. All I had to do was scan the unique QR code on the plug, and the app found the plug and I was able to turn it on and off with my phone remotely. I was hoping to be able to set a schedule for the plug, but with the "Home" app it looks like you need to have another device set up in your home to achieve scheduling with this plug. I then downloaded the Wiz app mentioned on the plug's box. I had a little trouble getting the plug connected to the app, but with a little trial and error, I figured it out. I set up a test schedule to turn the plug on, and it worked perfectly. The Wiz app seems to have a lot of options for scheduling and automation. You can set things to go on and off with sunrise and set, or choose specific times. Overall, it seems useful. In short, the plug works great. It might take a little effort on your part to figure out what app you prefer for your particular needs. I also really like that there's a physical button on the side of the plug so you can turn your device on manually when that is more convenient.

There are basically no major complaints with this smart plug. Smart plugs have become pretty commoditized at this point, and this Philips/WiZ model does exactly what it should at a price that's in line with the competition. It doesn't introduce anything new to the category, nor does it feel especially premium, but the build quality is solid and it checks all the boxes for anyone looking to make a "dumb" device smart. Size-wise, it's about average compared to the other smart plugs I've used and doesn't stand out in either direction. Setup through the WiZ app was quick and straightforward. In my case, I rarely use the app after the initial setup since smart plugs are most convenient through voice assistants, and this one supports all the major ecosystems. HomeKit compatibility is available through Matter if you have a compatible Matter hub. One small thing I didn't love is that the Matter QR code is placed on a sticker on the body of the plug. Functionally it's fine, but aesthetically it would have been nicer if it were less visible. On the plus side, I'm glad the Matter support is included at all. The most impressive part of my experience was how quickly it reconnects to the network after receiving power. Every time I've moved it between outlets, it has rejoined reliably within about 10–30 seconds. My only confusion is that there's no obvious connection-status indicator during startup. Since the plug remembers its previous on/off state, it can be hard to tell whether it's already connected or still in the process of reconnecting. Ultimately, this is the kind of device you'll set up once, plug into a wall, and mostly forget about until the day a lamp doesn't turn on and reminds you it's there. That's exactly what I want from a smart plug: reliable operation, broad compatibility, and no unnecessary complications.
