I had Hue white PAR38 bulbs in my outdoor fixtures for a while, and they worked fine—but I really wanted to add some color and flexibility. I swapped them out for these Philips Hue 100W PAR38 Color Ambiance bulbs, and the difference is huge. They're super bright, which is great for security and general lighting, but the color options take it to a whole new level. I love being able to switch to warm tones for a cozy vibe or set fun colors for parties and holidays. The Hue app makes it easy to control everything, and it all works seamlessly with Alexa/Google Home. The best part is, I didn’t waste my old white bulbs—I just moved them to another floodlight on the side of the house where color isn’t really needed. Now I’ve got smart lighting all around, with color where I want it most. Very pleased with these bulbs. They are very bright at their full brightness setting and put out a pleasant white light. There is a wide range of brightness settings all the way down to a 'nightlight' setting. They were detectable by the Hue app via the Hue Bridge maybe 30 seconds after powering them on and easily paired up. I've been searching for a solution to automating some outdoor lighting for a long time. I've tried replacing the wall switch with a time switch, but it was too bulky to fit into the wall box. These bulbs are a far more elegant solution, and I've set them up in the app to automatically turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. No complaints at all, 5 stars for now.
