Style: Large Tube Color: White
This light is expensive compared to the competition, but Hue systems have always been consistently reliable, and their sleek designs let them compliment many settings. This gradient tube is not limited to only being used as a back drop for the TV. I use it on a glass shelf above my TV, as an accent light, to add some mood lights to the shelf, and also light up the glass pane with it. The light itself can be freely rotated, to angle the hotspot to where you need it. That makes it very versatile as a mood light. That's the other thing Hue has, that competitors seem to have difficulty doing. Anyone can make an LED light, but Hue lights excel at creating pastel colors. Competing products can create very bright and vibrant colors, but they consequently have a hard time creating a softer, dimmer, palette of colors. That is why Hue lights are amazing as mood lights, for when I don't want my space lit up obnoxiously with neon colors in the evening. When you dim a Hue light to 1%, it really is nearly dark and barely visible. When used as a TV light, this light has 3 zones: left middle and right. My experience with using the PC version of the Hue Sync app and playing a Fluid Sim video is that the color matching is fairly accurate, but it is limited to those 3 zones. I do not see a gradual transition between the zones, so the light doesn't blend gradient colors together for Hue Sync, as it would when you are using a normal effect on the light. A sweeping red light moving across the 3 zones will not transition smoothly across them, but light up each 1/3 of the tube red as it passes by. Not a big deal, but it is a limitation to be aware of, if you're expecting the color transitions along the tube to be smooth in a Hue Sync setup. All in all, for the price I paid, I got an amazing mood light, and a fairly decent TV ambilight. I would consider that 2 products for the price of one. My first Hue bulbs were purchased in 2018, and they still work great now, 7 years later. I think that should be a fairly good indicator of how reliable Hue products are, and why that consistent reliability should be a consideration when looking at the price. ... show more

    • Review for people who plan to use this as general room lighting vs. marketed media ambiance
Style: Large Tube Color: Black
I got this product with intention to use it as a light source in my living room, where floor / table lamps weren't good options (space constraint). You can probably find a similar product for cheaper, but if you're on this page you're probably knee-deep invested in the hue ecosystem like me. For context, I have the bridge but not the Syncbox. In my 15ft x 15ft living room this light is on the wall behind a sofa. I have two floor lamps in the front corners of the room. The amount of light produced by the 3 lights at 100% is very bright and equivalent to other traditional arrangements. I'm happy it serves this bare minimum. The cherry on top of course is the integration with scenes / presets and color / dimming capabilities with other Hue bulbs and the app. Example: you know those Hue app presets like 'Flamingo' and 'Sunset Lake' that feels would be more effective if you had more Hue lights? The 3 construction within this light tube helps with that. Would 100% recommend and if you're having a hard time swallowing the price, do it. At this point I expect anyone who pulls the trigger on adding a Hue product to their home ecosystem goes through the emotions of balancing price vs. benefit, and ultimately deciding it's worth the cost. It's definitely applpicable here. ... show more

    • Easy Aesthetic Lighting - Best in Show
Style: Compact Tube Color: Black
This is probably my favorite Hue product. The design is sleek and unobtrusive. This also leads to it fitting well in a lot of spaces, notably behind decor without interrupting the overall aesthetic. The 2 sizes are great to fit any space you want additional lighting. Install/setup is super easy. Overall an awesome product. Minus one point because I bought "New", but the sealing stickers were both broken upon delivery, and I wasn't immediately sure this was truly new. Everything in package seemed fine, but worrying that Amazon would consider a new product with broken product seals as acceptable to ship. ... show more

    • Worth the money! Beautiful!
Style: Large Tube Color: Black
Review Image by Morgan Hoffman
This piece works great in my hue set up! I would say if you're using it for backlighting for a TV, the smallest tc I would use it with would be a 65" for the large tube. Any smaller and it might stick out or look weird. Installation didn't take too long. It was a little annoying but only mildly. I would have a friend help if you're wall mounting. Also depending on your TV mount and how far your TV comes out vs what tools you have you may have to take down the TV, mount, and then put the TV back up like we did. The colors are vibrant and great, just like any of the hue products! It compares to my play strip I also have on my TV. The lights can be dimmed or turned up to whatever percentage you desire. As far as durability goes, it's made of plastic so it's not exactly fragile like glass but I still wouldn't beat it up. For the money I would say it's priced well and makes a great addition to your current sync set up. Photos and videos included are shown with a 75" television using the hue sync for lg app. The play tube is lighting the bottom of the TV. The sides and top of the TV are a play strip for 75" TV's. The 3 lights in the entertainment center are hue play bars. And the overhead lighting are hue ambient color bulbs ... show more

    • Fourth time’s the charm…
Style: Large Tube Color: Black
Review Image by Vitonious
These five stars are because the functionality of the FINAL item I received was great, but it was a huge hassle getting one that worked. I also received the wrong item on a previous order of this product for a different room in my house. See below… The first time (kinda) I ordered this item for my TV room I tried to save a few bucks and order a slightly used one from Amazon. That one would light up, but not get recognized by my Hue ecosystem. I think it was because the light they sent and the control box it was packaged with had different serial numbers. The other lights I have ordered/received all have matching serial numbers on the light and box. I had to return that one and order another. This time I decided to order a new one instead of used to avoid that problem. The new one arrived with the entire left end (the side with the wire) broken off. The box was in good condition with no visible damage, so I’m not sure how it happened. There are these two little screws that hold it to the tube portion and they were completely out. Again, I had to return it. I decided to try one more time and the third one arrived in good condition. As a product, I’m very happy with it. It integrates wonderfully with my other hue lights. It’s super simple to add to your Hue app and really completes the look and experience. The reason I say “kinda” for my first time ordering is because I had ordered a used large one last year, and didn’t realize they sent me a compact (small) one until I ordered these and saw the difference in sizes. I’d have to recommend avoid ordering the used ones because the QC/QA seems off. ... show more
