Wow, I'm really happy with the Philips 5500 for our home. The taste of the coffee drinks are far above the pods we were using. I recommend watching some videos to see how to adjust the machine so that the coffee is to your taste and not too bitter or too watery, etc. I love the customization options because all of us have different preferences. Everything is really easy to clean and take care of. This has replaced four separate machines for my coffee drinking family - a Nespresso, a Keurig, a plain coffee machine, and a separate milk frother. It takes up a lot less space, and it's quiet. It's easy to use, even for older people. It's not a cheap machine, but we were spending a small fortune on individual coffee pods for our family of coffee drinkers. The cost of the beans is a lot less than buying pods. The machine itself is also really quick compared to our old suite of machines. I hope that it ends up reliable in the long run. ... show more

Loving this so much! Did my research and very happy! I love all the options and the fresh ground beans every time. Easy to set up and use. Plus you can customize each drink. I love I can add an extra shot to my latte macchiato. You can even save profiles for others using it. I like the milk canister and it’s easy to use and simple cleaning. Everything is simple cleaning and comes apart so quickly. I get about two-three uses from my milk reservoir. One trick I have learned, roll up a paper towel to plug the milk reservoir while storing in fridge. All in all I love this machine and highly recommend. ... show more

I bought an espresso machine, and I love it. But for my office, I want something that I can get up and just make a cup of coffee and go back to my desk and not to have sit there and do everything you do with an espresso machine This has been a life changer. I no longer have to go to Starbucks every day and get that cup of coffee I want. I get a cup of coffee that I want to taste that I want and the strength that I want I will even allow my husband to use it because he can’t mess it up So this product has been a really good product so far I’ve had it for over a month and it still runs really good and I’m still very happy with it If it ever breaks down, I’ll just get a new one. I do think it’s the one I will keep. I will keep my espresso machines too because I like making special cups of coffee the other way for my friends when they come over ... show more

First of all the actual box arrived opened (unsealed , inside other box), Milk container was missing!! This meant to be a brand new, sealed unit, so ended up returning it back, waste of time & efforts! Busted a fired later to found he just got the same exact machine, even same color (luckily no missing parts) so we ended up putting in good test, but truly ended up packing his and return it as well :). NOW, As for the machine itself, if you like coffee taste, this is not yours, brewing group and dosing size in grams is VERY shy for adequate coffee taste/aroma/crema, Off course, with less grinding time, small puck size, you end up with browny WATER not a cup of coffee. I personally/eventually went with De'Longhi Magnifica Plus, and YES! It is the earth and heaven difference. ... show more

Love it so much I bought it again for my lakehouse! Took a bit to figure it all out but once I did, oh man! Better than any coffee shop I ever had. There is a water tray that is easy to drain as is the grounds box. I do have a coffee mug that I keep on the tray as when it shuts off, it flushes the system and then the water tray fills up fast! Very easy to wipe down . We keep the creamer device in our fridge and just pop it on before making a drink. Easy peasy ... show more

I couldn't be happier. I think bad reviews are just people who haven't spent the time learning about the machine and how it works. Yes the first few cups were not the best but it takes time to basically train the machine and get the settings where you want it. Now it makes amazing drinks. It is way better than using the kcups. I know some people complain about the bypass for pre-ground coffee not being great but it was better in this machine than it was using the Keurig with the refillable pods. My only issue is that I can't get enough and it is messing with my sleep. I've had TOO much caffeine. LOL It is easy to clean and use. Once you get the initial set up done, a child (or lazy husband) could operate it. Now my husband is trying to convince me I no longer need my coffee grinder, milk frother or the French press. The French press is different though and I need my grinder to use with it. LOL Maybe I will decide the one machine is enough but he isn't willing to part with the Keurig yet because he hasn't bothered to learn this new one yet. Maybe I will check in this time next year to let everyone know if we got rid of the other items. ... show more

This machine is a joy to use and makes great coffee from freshly ground beans. Guests love helping themselves; custom programs are a plus for fussy and varied family favorites. Had an issue about six months in, customer service was great and arranged to come pick up the system for repair.

I bought this machine to replace my old worn out Philips 5500 series I bought in from William Sonoma in 2021 because I absolutely love this coffee machine as it does everything I need from regular coffee to espresso perfect. And yes, they do wear out and in the 5 years I had it I replaced the grinder along with the coffee chute from the grinder to the coffee press and that’s it. With that reliability I was more than willing to purchase another one and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality coffee machine. Now, here is why my review is on negative side. The new machines top cover for the beans was not in the box and the coffee chute door for the pre ground beans was cracked and broken. To remedy the problem, I just used the old machines cover and just going to deal with the broken chute door instead of going through the hassle of returning the whole thing. The photos I have attached show the top & chute door/flap of the older machine I used as well as the broken shoot flap/door from the new machine I received. Sad that paying a premium price for something doesn’t mean your get a premium product ... show more
