Alright I have used many Phenyx Pro products and this one is pretty unique! I like the quality alot of this unit and the mics! The battery life is surprisingly long on the mics, but I have converted half of them to be powered from being plugged in to an outlet(less batteries to worry about). I really like the physical quality of the microphones. The base is likely a bit fragile if dropped, but it's not like these are performance mics. The light indication on the microphone comes in really handy to confirm it's powered on and if it's live or muted. The receiver is like other Phenyx Pro receivers, and it's a good thing. If you're not familiar with their products, you're missing out. The auto scanning for frequency is by far my favorite feature of their units. It also works really well. I have personally tested it with separate frequency scanners. Pros: Decent sound quality! Really good range! No interference! Sounds of the mic do not get picked up through it like their lapel mics! Autoscanning!!! Integrated real easy with the right convertion equipment to a PC! Really great feedback filtering! Cons: You will want a mixer for optimal sound quality and dialing. Out of the box is fine, but needs external EQs. Base is a tad fragile. Fairly pricy unit, but very worth it! The mic is very directional and you have to be within inches for the mic to pickup good signals unless you want to crank your speakers at the risk of feedback. Conclusion: I would recommend this unit for your conference setting needs! The quality is great and so is the sound! I have yet to be disappointed with Phenyx Pro!

OK, I'm not gonna lie. I had very low expectations for this system. I needed a number of channels of wireless podium microphones and didn't want to spend $7,000 or more on Shure ULXD8 transmitters and gooseneck microphones for my QLXD wireless systems. I purchased two of these eight channel systems and the antenna distro unit and the system performed flawlessly. It doesn't offer scanning, nor does it work out of the box with frequency coordination apps like wireless workbench, but you simply can't beat the price. Just make sure to use the frequencies within the groups and you should be fine. It may not work as well in noisy RF environments. Don't sleep on this system. This is a great value for the price.

The first thing I noticed about this item before I even opened the box is that it is heavy. Once I opened the box, I realized the weight seems to be on the 8 microphone bases, which is a good thing because adding a little weight to the base can prevent the mics from being scooted around or knocked over by accident if someone bumps them with books, binders, etc. Individually, they are not too heavy. Just enough weight to keep them stable. The bases are also a bit bigger than I expected, but I like the size. Not too big, but like the weight, big enough to be stable. Attach the mic to the base and you have a very nice looking unit. I love the noticeable, yet subtle green light around the mic when transmitting and red light when the mic is muted as well as having a mute button on the mic base. Always love when the receiver is rack mountable. It is also very nice looking and learning all the functions is pretty easy. Changing channels is a breeze. How do they sound? Very nice. They pic up well, sound clean and the transmission signal is also clean and clear. This will be great for many uses, including depositions, board meetings, panel discussions, podcasts and YouTube videos (especially with one or more guests) Overall, am excellent system. One improvement that I would suggest is adding an XLR output on each mic base so you have the option to use each mic as a wired mic in the even that you have interference or for some other reason do not want to use wireless. Definitely recommend this system.

The Phenyx Pro PTU-8 is a quick and easy solution for those needing to run multiple Mics for conferences, meetings, or anywhere you have multiple speakers! Since the system is wireless you can say goodbye to a maze of microphone cables. As with other Phenyx Pro products, the build quality of the Transmitters and Receiver are solid and don’t feel flimsy. The displays on the base of the microphones are large and easy to read. I like the battery level indicator and there is also a green for “on” and red for “mute” indicator ring around the gooseneck mic to let you know what state it’s in. The Receiver is an all metal rack mount housing that is actually more compact than another 4-channel rack mount Mic system that I have. The displays of each of the 8 channels show frequency, channel, battery level, lock, RF & AF level, volume, and which antenna is being used. It does not show if the mics are on mute or not. The volume is set to 18(max) by default so you may need to dial it down if it’s too sensitive. The audio quality of the mics are decent, but not as warm as my PTU-1U. In my opinion the closer you are to the mic the more fuller it sounds. To prevent plosives with me being so close, I simply pulled back the windscreen about a half an inch and it sounded much better. The non line of sight range is good and the batteries are said to last 8-10 hours. I wish the receiver had rotary volume knobs for each channel if you need to do on the fly volume adjustments for times when you are not using these with a mixing board. I can’t wait to use this system at Dance or Cheer competitions for the judges table. I most likely won’t be mounting it in a case so I added colored electrical tape to the transmitters and corresponding channels on the receiver for added ID.

Setting up for a multiple microphone, conference is a time consuming and labor-intensive task. You need long XLR cables, mics, stands, mixer and cable runs that require safety taping and conduits. The PTC-8 eliminates all that by its wireless, and easy set up. My first impression when unboxing the system was how professional the equipment looks and feels. The mics and bases are solid and the shape of the mic base even allows one to place a base on an angled lectern without slipping off. Operation of the mic bases was so simple and my users loved the ease of use and styling. The red/green LED ring is an added bonus and signifies when the mic is on or off. In addition to the mics, bases, batteries, power supply, rack mountable receiver/antenna, the box also includes a TS ¼ cable and a ¼ to 1/8 adapter to fit almost any output need. The rear of the receiver has a single mix output of all mics as well as separate XLR outputs for each mic. Included instructions are easy to follow and printed in several languages. Usage. After connecting the mics to their bases and installing the batteries, the units were ready to go. Each mic comes with a foam cover to reduce plosive sounds and also provide a stylish look to the mics. Mic necks are gooseneck and are easily adjustable for different heights. We are using the system for our monthly conference of our charity organization. Everyone who used it was pleased and it will now be our standard set up going forward. The overall sound quality was good with no noticeable dropouts or interference for the duration of its use. Although we used the mixed output from the receiver to feed our audio system, the mic levels were easily set using the intuitive controls on the front panel of the receiver. Each mic had already come paired with the receiver so there was no need to change frequencies. If you were experiencing interference on one or several base units, you can easily change frequencies and pair each mic base using the IR reader on the front panel. Overall, this system has proven to be highly effective. Our conference setup went from 45 minutes to 5 minutes. No more cables for us! The only thing I would recommend would be to make the mic bases rechargeable so we can eliminate the need for AA batteries. Other than that, this system rocks for the price-point and I would highly recommend it for any organization that’s tired of running cables, passing mics around and just wants to simply meet their audio setup.
