I've had mine for over 3 months now and I only had to drain it once!!! I asked my Mom to please do it for me, as I was on my way out the door when the red light came on and it turned itself off. So although I'm not sure how easy it is to get to, I DO know that it doesn't leak water everywhere!!!! The size is reasonable at about a foot by a foot, it fit right next to my desk really easily in my tiny room. It also arrived early and wasn't super expensive. My Mom gave me a hand installing mine and the metal plate thingy was too big for my window... Soooo.... we improvised and used some of the styrofoam packing material to fill in the gap, and it's STILL in my window, and even in the pouring rain, there's no water leaking through. The remote kinda sorta works. It worked for the first couple of months and then I must've pressed too hard on one of the buttons because it doesn't work anymore. I find the noise level fine..... since I'm used to noise all night long from my fan going 24/7. It feels weird to me when there's not noise in my room. Sooooo.... hence why I find the noise levels just fine. The unit doesn't quite cool my entire room down. Buuutt it doesn't help that my Mom won't let me go past a certain temperature setting because she doesn't want to pay extra for the electricity. We're also in the height of summer here in Maine, which isn't helping at all!!! The unit does help cool down the entire upstairs floor though. Just an FYI though, this thing is a teeny bit too smart, as it turns itself off once it deems the room cold enough. Sooooo.... if you fuss with the temperature and go down 1 degree, it tends to run all night long. Orrrr... if you're already cold enough, you can turn on Fan mode and when the unit is in fan mode it does NOT turn itself off. There's also a few random air bubbles on the control panel...... BUT other than those minor issues... The shipping and price weren't too bad to me. It was like, 210ish.... I don't think that's too bad, considering some air conditioners can be more like 600!!! ... show more

    • Waste of money—didn't even last one season

I bought this PETSITE unit thinking it would be a solid investment for the summer, but I was wrong. It worked okay for about three months, but after that, it completely gave out. I was extremely diligent with maintenance, cleaning the filters and the unit constantly to make sure it stayed in good shape, but it didn't matter. This is not an AC built for longevity. It feels like a "disposable" appliance—once those first few months are up, the cooling power drops off or it stops working entirely regardless of how well you care for it. Do yourself a favor and spend a bit more on a reputable brand. This one is a total waste of money and definitely won't last you more than a few months. ... show more

I had a unit that was on its last leg so I obtained this one. It's smaller but really pushes the cool air further than my old one. I wish the drain was higher for the hose to drain. I have some risers to suspend of the floor. Overall its a good value.

It makes some noise on the high setting, but nothing too obnoxious, and has the nice feature of standby period when the desired temperature has been reached for a certain period of time and then turns back on when it starts to warm up again. Simple installation and controls.

It barely cooled off half the room. The room size is 250sq. Ft. The other half would still be uncomfortably hot. After a month and a half it barely worked at all. Had to go get a window model after all. Which works way better. This model was 8000 btu, the window model is 6000btu and works so much better. Plus it was very noisy. ... show more

I hate this air conditioner so much. I spend every summer fighting with it. If the exhaust hose frame isn't falling out of the window, the hose is falling out of the retainer and I have to struggle to get it put back in. When it's humid it shuts down every couple of hours and I have to lift it (45 lbs) up off of the floor and empty the water tank. I doubt that a slightly larger water tank would have decimated PETSITE's profits. I bought this unit because it was the only one I could find that is small enough for a single bedroom. I've tried other units that were larger but they had a cooling cycle that left the room too cold, and then it would get too hot between cycles. I think that most people assume that air conditioners turn on at exactly the temperature set and stay on only until the set temperature is met, then shut off. That is not how they work at all. These portable air conditioners don't have any way to regulate their cooling output; they have a static timer for the cooling cycle: When the temperature gets to the set temperature, the cooling cycle kicks on and stays on for a set amount of time, then shuts off, and the cycle repeats every time the set temperature is reached. So with the larger units, the temperature would constantly go from 78F to ~50F and back in an endless cycle. With this smaller unit, the temperature varies from about 78F to 70F which is a much more tolerable range. ... show more

Update* I received a message stating I would receive a partial refund and a technician would come out to fix it. No technician has come it has never even been mentioned again: I now have this junk sitting in my house annoyed that it has to be thrown away because I spend a decent amount of money on it. I would’ve just been fine if they’d just given me a full refund if there was no true intent to have someone come fix the issue. I just don’t understand why people are so dishonest. If you run a business that’s not way to run a business, you don’t just take peoples money and give them crap for it. This product leaks EVERYWHEREEEE!! This unit shuts off after 30 minutes. They won’t issue a refund because it’s “past the return window”. Initially contacted the seller but can no longer contact them A waste of 200+$, so sad ... show more
