  • SUPER Easy
Size: Small
I love how easy this was to install. I didn’t even take the screen door off the track. So far it’s pretty durable with me gently pulling my dog through it lol. I couldn’t be happier.

  • Good Product Eh Instructions
Size: Small
The media could not be loaded. So I actually installed this myself, I am a 20 year old female so it’s really simple, but since I couldn’t understand the instructions, I just searched up on YouTube how to install a pet door and actually found a similar or maybe it was the same one. The only thing that had me really confused is it asks you what type of screen door you have because you have to cut it differently for metal or the other type of screen idk. So since I didn’t install my screen doors I wasn’t sure what kind of screen it was so I just kind of winged it and cut along the first opening(the same one that the video showed). i’m not sure if I did it correctly but I did hammer it and walk on the edges one the pet door to make sure it’s completely closed and it’s been working quite well since. Out 3 cats 2 learned how to use it the same day. ... show more

  • Much cheaper alternative than a factory installed pet door
Size: Small
We installed this PetSafe door on a brand new screen door before we hung our new screen door onto our house. This was fairly easy to install since we installed it while our new vinyl screen door was not yet installed and we could lay it flat on the patio. It would be very difficult to install without the screen door lying flat. The grooves inside the PetSafe door frame half made it easy to run a blade through our screen door’s screen fabric to cut out the rectangular opening needed for the PetSafe door. The screen fabric inside the swinging door is the screen fabric from PetsSafe and not from our screen door yet it matches ours well. We had to line up one half of the PetSafe door frame on one side of the screen with the other half of the PetSafe door frame placed on the opposite side of the screen and then hammer the halves together to fit closed with the screen fabric between them. We had to hammer the rubber mallet around the circumference maybe 10 times or so before we got all gaps to close between the front and back sides of the Petsafe door frame around the nylon screen hole we cut out. The PetSafe door hinge swings the PetSafe door freely and easily with no real resistance. The lock feature locks either both directions of the swing or just one direction depending on how we set it. We installed it so the pegs of the lock have to be set while standing outside and we’re not sure if that’s a mistake or not, but as we are not likely to need it, that doesn’t matter to us. Now and then we see gaps between the two sides of the frame open up that we pinch closed again. We didn’t use any glues between the frame halves and we weren’t instructed to, but if the frames start having trouble staying pinched together that will be our backup plan. While it appears the PetSafe door is resting on the frame of our screen door, it isn’t. It is lined up near it and is just hanging onto the screen fabric. It really saved us money to install this onto a new screen door ourselves rather than buying a screen door with a pet door already built into it. Our 2 cats got used to it in a couple days and they love it. We are very pleased with this purchase. ¡Update! - around 2 weeks after installing it, our active kitten charged through the door and knocked it off the screen so I knocked a star off our rating. We went to our backup plan and put glue gel in the track side of the frame and, while the screen door was still on its hinges, we lined up both sides of this frame (one person on either side of the door) and squeezed it closed around the screen hole it had been on. We couldn’t get it completely squeezed tightLy together around the 4 sides of this pet door frame because the screen door was vertical. I am sure we could have done better if we’d taken it down and laid it horizontal but we’re hoping with the glue it will be good enough to hold. so far so good, it still looks nice and operates well. ... show more

  • Exactly what I needed at a price I could afford.
Size: Small
I live in a fifth wheel RV so cutting hole in the door really was not an option. I'm remodeling the old thing and replaced the screen in the door which had been torn (with my dog and cat running through the hole along with flies and these terrifying Gulf Coast flying roaches * shudder.) As I was pondering how I might create a pet door on the screen door, I ran across this item on amazon. Ordered it that day, on my doorstep the next, installed 15 minutes later. What a time to be alive! It was incredibly easy and intuitive to install I pretty much looked at the instructions thought they were ridiculously complicated sounding, so I threw them away and installed it in what was clearly the only way it could be installed. Do take notice on which side the lock sliders are on because once it's in place I'm thinking you can't take it back out without tearing the screen up. And that locking mechanism... It's not some big sturdy lock it's not going to keep the raccoon out or a determine dog but neither will a screen. I would have preferred that they had a lot slider on both sides of the screen. This item gets five stars all the way around. Seriously folks it provides a pet door in a screen, super easy installation, does exactly what it's supposed to do. magnetized bottom works perfectly to keep the bugs out. And if you've ever seen one of these giant flying palmetto bugs you would know how important that feature is. All for under $20. ... show more
