Frequently asked questions

The PetSafe Drinkwell Pagoda Pet Fountain cycles water through an included carbon and foam filter. This ensures that the water your pet drinks is always fresh, clean and free from any harmful contaminants. The cycling process also helps keep the water oxygenated, which makes the water more appealing and hydrating for your pet.

The fountain has a water capacity of 70 ounces or approximately 2 Liters. This is ideal for small to medium-sized pets and means that you won't have to refill it constantly. The size also allows it to fit seamlessly into most spaces in your home.

The PetSafe Drinkwell Pagoda Fountain is elevated to provide a more comfortable drinking position for your pet. This can be especially beneficial for older pets or those with arthritis who might find bending down to drink uncomfortable.

The free-falling water in the PetSafe Drinkwell Pagoda Fountain serves two main purposes. First, it entices pets to drink more, as the movement of water is naturally appealing to them. Second, as the water falls, it helps to aerate the water, increasing the oxygen content which enhances the taste and keeps the water fresher for longer.

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The PetSafe Drinkwell Pagoda Pet Fountain has a durable and easy-to-clean ceramic design, and is made by a well-loved and trusted brand. It's a hit among most cats, with a water flow that mimics a faucet, and its sturdy construction stops mischievous cats from tipping it over. However, some users did note that the water falling sound can be quite loud and noticeable.

Pros

  • 🐾 Sturdy construction, can't be easily knocked over
  • 💦 Mimics faucet water flow that cats love
  • 🌟 Made by a trusted brand
  • 🛠 Easy to assemble and clean

Cons

  • 🔈 Water falling sound can be quite loud

Should I Buy It?

If your cat enjoys drinking from the faucet, this product would likely be a hit. However, those who are sensitive to noise should take note of the sound of the water falling, which some users found quite loud.

  • Best cat/kitten fountain for your furry little bastard
For those of you who didn’t know, cats have bacteria in their mouths that will get into the water. That means you’ll have to constantly change stagnant water bowls every 2-3 days. I’ve owned/babysat many cats and the majority of them will refuse to drink until it is cleaned. I used standard bowls in the past and cleaning was extremely tedious. I had used plastic bowls and there was always a slimy film that built up so I had to scrub multiple times until it was clean. Furthermore, you don’t want to dehydrate cats as that may lead to medical issues with their kidneys(?). Idk there is some medical condition where if they don’t get enough water it can cause issues long term. Suffice it to say, the price is well worth it, the double filter option works great, and the water provides a calming background noise. It’s not completely silent, so if you get annoyed by any sound, don’t get this. If you don’t mind a very low white noise, then this is perfect. We clean the bowl every 3 weeks by putting it in the dishwasher. The pump and filter assembly is incredibly easy to assemble and disassemble. Lastly, the square design butts up nicely against furniture. Also, our kitten has learned to drink from the top of the fountain assembly, so you don’t have to worry about the dimensions, or if your cat/kitten is too smol. We currently have one kitten, but the omnidirectional design shouldn’t be an issue for multiple cats either. I have zero complaints about the fountain, the lack of constant cleaning is a huge plus, and our furry little bastard drinks water on the regular. Plus, the color and design is actually quite trendy compared to other water bowls ... show more

  • It looks nice, your cat will drink more, it's sanitary
This is an exceptional product. I didn't want to get the stainless steel fountain, that looks like something for cat prison. Be smart. I change the water and hand wash/wipe the unit before refilling every other day. (I think to myself, I would not drink water sitting out in a cup past 2 days, so my cats are not). Also, flowing water will slime on surfaces, if you own a business with an AC or cooling condensation line, you know how non-chlorinated flowing water slimes. I LIKE THIS A LOT because the pump can easily be opened and cleaned on the inside. I skipped this for a time and yes, it got gross, but the cleaning is done easily and completely. I am so happy I can access all areas where water touches for cleaning. People comment about a noise level, I live by the beach, flowing water is a welcome soundtrack I like. The pump itself is silent. The cats drink more, it looks great, I like the sound, and it can be cleaned completely. And Kisses to Kuzya and Chewie. Chewie got this for his 1st birthday!!! Flowing water pairs well with a gourmet seafood birthday feast! ... show more

  • Nice fountain, a little loud
The porcelain is a nice look and better than plastic in my opinion. It looks nicer in a room than a metal fountain, and the cats like the water streams (although they don't come too far out from the main base). Only complaint is that the trickling sound is pretty loud compared to other fountains, the water is just very splashy. And the replacement filters are overpriced. Hopefully the pump/motor lasts for a long time as that seems to be the first thing to break in these things. ... show more

  • Great overall fountain
I've purchased several pet fountains over the past few years, and it's honestly started to make me think I should start my own fountain company due to how crappy most of these things are built. It's like the manufacturers TRY to find the absolute worst internal parts they possibly can to ensure the fountains only last 6 months or something. Now, on to the Pagoda. I actually own two of these now, one for my two cats and one for my two bunnies. I've had the first one for about a year now, and it's been a champ. It just works, which is more than I can say about most of the others. One thing that people need to keep in mind is that you MUST clean these fountains weekly if you want them to last, and if you want your pets to stay healthy. It doesn't matter how good the design is, you need to clean ANY fountain to avoid problems. Too many reviewers are just setting up the fountain and complaining when it breaks a couple of months later, but a lot of the time it's due to forgetting to fill the fountain so the pump burns out when it runs empty (it will burn out quickly), or they just don't clean them at all. That said, I think that this fountain makes it easy to keep clean and should last a long time. -> The Good <- - Fountain is extremely simple; it only has two ceramic pieces, the pump, a rubber gasket, and a piece of foam that acts as a filter for hair and large particles before they hit the charcoal filter. Many fountains are incredibly difficult to assemble, this one is very easy. - It's easy to clean. You take the two ceramic pieces and toss them in the dishwasher, and then use the recommended brush kit to scrub any grime off the outside and inside of the pump. I actually trust the design of the fountain to not hold mold in hidden areas like some of the other ones you can buy, just because it's so simple that mold can't hide anywhere if you're cleaning everything properly. - You can buy replacement pumps here on Amazon for a reasonable price, and you can buy replacement parts on the website. I had to replace the pump twice due to the bunnies biting the cord, nothing wrong with the pump itself as long as you actually keep it clean (most reviewers likely are not disassembling the pump and cleaning it with the recommended small brush). The ability to replace parts is really great though, and shows they are meant to last. - The fountain serves taller and and shorter pets, including rabbits. Some fountains are just too tall or are built primarily for dogs and large cats. My bunnies can easily drink out of the fountain from every angle, and the cats drink from the top where the water spills over. - The water STAYS CLEAN. Many fountains start to really look like a swamp after a week or so, the Pagoda stays so clean that it's deceptive and you almost forget you need to clean it regularly. The water recycling and flow is really great, so water doesn't have a chance to stagnate or pool in parts of the fountain like some of the plastic ones do. -> The Bad <- - Water noise is loud, might be a con for some people. To me it's not, it's kind of soothing and relaxing. I don't mind it at all. Overall, I think this is a great pet fountain. They aren't cheap, but the cheap ones do not last and they are difficult to assemble and clean. I recommend this fountain to anybody who has pets. ... show more
