The Classic In-Ground Fence System will give you peace of mind knowing your dog is safe and secure inside his yard. If you have a rectangular or uniquely- shaped yard, an in-ground fence might be a great option. Setting up an in- ground fence is a DIY project, so we like to tell pet parents to plan to install your new fence over a weekend. The in-ground fence transmitter has an LCD screen which shows you what the boundary distance is set to, and the wire break warning indicator. This kit comes with 500 feet of boundary wire which lets you secure a 1/3-acre yard. If your yard is larger, just purchase more boundary wire to fence in up to a 5-acre yard. The rechargeable receiver collar has 7 levels of adjustable static correction that you can set based on your dogs temperament. The collar also has a level that is tone and vibration which is great for when you're training your dog. The receiver collar is also compatible with all PetSafe PawzAway Pet Barriers (sold separately) so you can keep your dog safe outside and away from off-limit areas inside your home with the same collar.     • Had my dog staying in boundary in only two days.

This works great! My dog now can be let in the backyard and we don’t have to worry about him. After only two days, he was trained after a couple of small shocks on the 2nd day. He wouldn’t cross it even though he was running towards the neighbor’s dogs in a fence. Compared to thousands of $ to get a fence, this was definitely the way to go. I used an edger and put it in manually after that, but would recommend renting one of the dog fence wire trenching tools that puts it in as it digs a small trench. My way took a couple days. Also, consider getting the other model that allows your dog all the way to the boundary if you have a small area. This system will warn your dog around 5-10 feet from the wire depending on how you set it, but my dog stays 7-10 feet away from the flags. Collar stays charged a long time. ... show more

Me and my husband spent 4 and a half hours carefully placing the wiring around our new in ground fence. We read all of the instructions carefully and when we went to test it out nothing happened! We completed the system test but no matter what, the collar will not shock unless the collar is touching the transmitter. We tried adjusting the range to every option but still unless it is touching, no beeps and no shocks. A giant waste of money! ... show more

Well it works and the five foot range is kinda spotty, it may go off soon as they’re on top of it or may go off when they’re five feet away. The 8th setting is for a very stubborn dog to say the least, I tried it on myself first as that’s what’s I believe you should do to see what they have to put up with. My dogs respond very well to setting 2 let alone 8. The collar doesn’t warn if you set it to anything other than first setting. So your dog will be freaking out getting shocked until they figure out where the boundary is. I’m happy with the product but the inconsistency of where the collar goes off will eliminate quite a bit of yard they feel comfortable in. ... show more

This was a process! After one weekend of brainstorming, I figured it out. The issue is having to make a complete circle. I could have done it around the house but it would have been extensive digging in the front and in the back too many tree roots with our wooded perimeter. I ended up attaching it to the fence with the wires 5 feet apart (like the manual diagram shows). The first issue was we have a HOA so we couldn’t use the orange wire that came with the kit. I had to order more wire anyway because I was about 50 feet short to do the double perimeter method. I ordered black wire (not the same brand, much thicker) Of course, the gauge wire for the kit was not listed, so I ordered the wrong size the first time. My hubby is not happy. I have to loop it through the garage (via under the garage door) I have no access to the garage except thru the front, I wasn’t about drilling thru concrete wall to run the wire. All this because the box is not weatherproof! This is a huge design flaw which also led to the need for more wire. Once I had everything I needed, it took about 4 hours. It was pretty easy once I gave up digging and put it on the existing fence. In case you are wondering, I need it for the digging dog, not a perimeter.
