Review of PetraTools 4 Gallon Battery Powered Backpack Sprayer – Extended Spray Time Long-Life Battery - New HD Wand Included, Wide Mouth Lid, Multiple Nozzles & Battery Included @ $219.99. I have just a big enough city/house lot to maintain that the regular 2- and 3-gallon pump sprayers just wear a person's hands out from all of the pumping. I've had a pump handle backpack sprayer and 2 pull behind battery driven sprayers; they all failed after a short while. After lots of reading of reviews on here and the Internet, I chose this sprayer. I did not take photos since the ad photos and videos do it justice. It was fairly easy to assemble the hoses and fittings with everything else pretty much assembled already. Teflon tape (plumbers' tape) is provided, and you get a complete roll. I found that I missed getting one of the fittings wrapped with the tape as it was leaking around the spray head. Yes, I had to even remove the spray heads and use the tape there too. Included in the prep time was putting about 2 gallons of warm water in the tank (after charging the battery for several hours), and then letting the pump run for a bit to prime the pump so that sprayer works at optimal output. It did not take but perhaps 10-15 minutes. Once the prep was completed, I chose my nozzles and affixed them, then filled the tank with water and added herbicide. Keep in mind that water weighs 8.3 pounds per gallon, and this is a 4 gallon sprayer tank, which adds another 33.2 pounds on top of what the tank and lead-acid battery weigh. Lead-acid batteries weigh more than the lithium-ion batteries (15.47 pounds for the sprayer, according to the product details). So, you are looking at loading about 50 pounds onto your back. I had to set mine up on the top of the porch and get down onto the lower steps and get into the shoulder harness, and then stand up. I did not notice any leaking that I am certain of. The second fill of this to finish my grounds produced some liquids down my back when I put it on my shoulders via the harness. I don't think that the lid was loose at all, and I did not notice any water that I missed getting into the tank, so maybe there was some leakage around a lid. But it did not do this the first time filled. I liked that there was sufficient space to fill the tank. There is another opening too. It is for filling the herbicide, or whatever you are putting in there. There is a measuring cup inside of the smaller opening. The water fill has a removable filter. This sprayer really does a great job of spraying. I only used 2 of the nozzle sets, but they were awesome. The voltmeter is a little confusing to me still. Both of the lights stayed on once the battery was charged and the sprayer turned on. Plus, there're 2 on-off buttons. One they don't call that, but instead it acts as a control of the power to regulate how much the pump maintains the pressure. The other is a toggle up and down to power it off and on. But mine stayed on if I did not turn the knob to the off position too. I did not like the weight of a filled sprayer, but that's part of it I suppose. I feel like this is on the expensive side, but if it holds up, it will be worth it in the long run. The fill lines are marked per the gallon. They are very hard to see. I might take a permanent marker and mark them but wanted to wait until I made sure the thing was going to work. They say that you can keep this thing on charge all of the time or be sure to charge it up regularly or it will go dead like the battery in your car if it sits. This is a slight drawback to me because my electric bill is high enough without adding yet another device to draw power. It's either that or set reminders to charge the thing periodically. It doesn't take up as much space to store as the pull behind sprayers. Overall, I would give it 4.5 stars. I hope that this helps someone to decide whether to try the product or not.

PetraTools after filling up the tank with water is even lot heavier to carry and can hurt your back. It will better if you get a smaller version do to the weight of the unit.

PetraTools is Top Notch!!! I purchased the HD4000 Backpack Sprayer and received it very quickly but shortly after the first use, the unit stopped working. I contacted there support and talked to Nina, what an Amazing Person!! She gave me some tips and helped me trouble shoot what may be wrong with the sprayer. After nothing worked it was decided I received a bad unit, (It Happens) Nina issued me a new sprayer the same day and got it shipped out without any hassle or problems. This was the easiest and best support I've ever received with a company. This company and employees stand by there products. Thanks Nina, you've got my business!!!

Product is working great as described. Some little details need to be addressed by the manufacturer however. It needs to be stated in your instructions that it could take up to 15 minutes for the first prime. I wasted an hour trying to figure it out then finally called customer support. Let it run for 15-20 minutes without shutting it down on the first prime. Worked great after that. About the shoulder straps… this thing is heavy!… probably close to 50 lbs with 4 gallons of water in it. The straps have “slider” type buckles that allow for adjustment. I nearly broke my foot when one of the straps came loose and the full pack hit the ground next to my foot. I re-attached the strap and double routed the end back through the slider for more grip. The straps are adjustable down low so I don’t see the need for these at the top. These should be sewn, or have a more secure attachment. After that however, it worked great…

Just a word of advice. If you buy one of these battery sprayers and you try to use it for the first time and it won't work "doesn't Prime" open it up and make sure the short hose inside going from the tank to the pump is not kinked. This is the second battery sprayer I bought from two different manufactures where the hose inside was kinked and not letting the fluid pass making the sprayer inoperable.

You can tell a lot about a company whenever a call to customer service is required. I had a problem, and the response of PetraTools to solve it exceeded my expectations, specifically "Jake". They have an excellent support infrastructure unlike none I've ever experienced. When I called outside of their opening hours, I automatically received a text message prompting me to text a description of the problem I was having. Not too much time went by wherein I was engaging with their technical support team.

The battery was not velcroed in when taking the sprayer out for the first use. The wire pulled loose from the metal piece connecting to the terminal. Although I don’t think I should have had to work on it and just received a new one, Mikki in customer support was very quick to respond and helpful!
