It's easy to install, may need another person to be handy with you. The pet door fit my door perfectly, but make sure you measure the fit properly to your dogs size before you order. Read the instructions either way, to make sure you got it right. The flaps to keep the weather out and it has an inside and outside closure that locks in place while they're down or up or you can just put them to the side. So, it's worth the money for the convenience, quality and the safety of your pet.

I got the through wall model. Installation was easy and it looks so good. The inside insulated flap is really clever and does its job so well. Highly recommend this door to any dog owner.

First let me say, this dog door was only installed one day ago. I had bought a new back door to install the dog door in. My previous dog door was plastic with only one flap and was the third one I had installed in the same original door so needless to say, the house door had taken a beating, and that's why I bought a new house door for this dog door. The reason I replaced the plastic dog door was because it was only a few months old and had already started cracking and large parts of the frame had fallen out. It became more difficult to keep the house cool without putting the cover on the dog door opening defeating the purpose. In addition, this dog door is slimmer and taller than the plastic one I had and I felt it would not be stable in my previous house door so I decided to start fresh and I'm so glad I did. I had read in the reviews that the pattern for the dog door cutout was a bit large for the new install so we decided to first trace the pattern provided on the new house door to get it centered, and then we drew another line around the larger dog door insert side. After cutting out the house door along the smaller cutout pattern, we put both parts of the dog door in the cutout. Then we Individually drilled the 4 holes for the screws to hold the dog door in place. I think this made the both the house door and the dog door a bit more stable and helped make it so much better in keeping the hot/cold air outside. When the house door was reinstalled, there was a noticeable difference in the air temp in my kitchen. The three flaps on this dog door do an incredible job keeping it cooler in my house. The only drawback to this door is that it isn't clear to see the outside so my two large dogs were hesitant to come through. However, this lasted only a short time, and now, even though one of my dogs is still a little hesitant, he's using the dog door to go out. I feel quite sure it won't be long until he pops through it without hesitating. Three flaps are definitely better than one. The center flap is actually insulation. The magnets are situated better than any other dog doors I've ever used. If they continue to be that way remains to be seen. The closure slide-ins give a greater sense of security with the security clasps to keep them in place. The flaps are definitely heavier by virtue that there are three, but that helps compensate for our high wind gusts. Smaller dogs might have a problem with the weight of the flaps because each flap is heavier than any others I've tried, but for the larger dogs this is a wonderful dog door. Even though it might be a little more expensive, the pros for the dog door far outweigh any cons (if you can find any). I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to anyone that asked.

The dog door I purchased looks well made, the only problem I may have is with my Aussie Shepard, she is too fat and I'm not sure she will fit through the door. I'll install it tomorrow or the next day and see if she can make it through the door. If not, I don't know what I will do. I had to do an update on the dog door. My big fat Aussie Shepperd zipped right through the door with no problem. I was shocked, Great product!

Aside from the numerous misspelled words on both sides of the box it was shipped in, I found the door itself to be well made and built to close tolerances. I especially like the two locking metal panels that securely slide into the channels on both sides of the door. The only difficulty during installation was with aligning the mounting screws, but that's not unusual and is pretty much to be expected. I do recommend you use a smaller drill bit than the one provided, mount both sides of the door and drill in from both sides. I then used a flashlight to check alignment. I also used white caulk to seal the outer edge of the door. I like it, and so do our dogs...
