We travel, last time for 6 weeks, and while we have someone come in to care for the cats, it works best to have their meals several times a day and automatic. This feeder is perfect. It is hard to program; it may take several tries with the instructions before you can get it set up BUT once set up it is very reliable. We feed 3 times a day with the feeder when we are home and 4 times when we travel. The 4th feeding is wet food but we don't have a caregiver every day when we travel so they get the wet food less often and we program 4 meals into the feeder. Great product. It splits the servings into two dishes and the cats manage well sharing the device. We use a small round flat pellet type food and have had no problems with jamming. HIghly recommend when feeding two cats. I would not hesitate to leave for a weekend feeling confidence they were fed. It holds a lot of food and although we have a very smart cat who gets into everything, he has not been able to get into this feeder. ... show more

I was very excited to get my pet libro automatic pet feeder but I’ve been very displeased and unhappy that I made the decision to get this model of a pet feeder. I got the double feeder because I have 3 cats and that seems to be a huge mistake. When the food is dispensed even once or twice, which I have set and the food barely makes it into the bowl but backs up before causing an error and then the dispenser shuts down. Enough food without my assistance by clearing the food into the bowls is impossible. The whole purpose of having a automatic pet feeder is to make sure your animals are fed especially when you aren’t home. This feeder defeats the whole purpose of having it in the first place and that makes me very upset I spent this much money on something that doesn’t work properly. My cats need to have a reliable source of food if I’m hospitalized for a couple days unexpectedly, which happened last year. Their pet water fountains keep them hydrated reliably for a couple days and that’s what I want and expected from this pet feeder. ... show more

Very easy to set up, very easy to program, very easy to walk away and not have to worry about feeding cats on a routine every day. After reading other reviews, here are my observations. The portion size is not adjustable, but there's a very easy and obvious fix. It's not going to come out at the size that *you* personally may prefer, however, you can set it such that each time it dispenses it sends out 1, 2 or 5 or 50 (or higher) portions, so you get exactly the amount you feel is right, right on schedule. The trick is to take a minute before you set it out and hit the portion button with food in the hopper. Note how much there is then keep count while hitting the button until you see as much food as you wish in both bowls. Mine is set to dispense 5 portions which perfectly satisfies my speedy fuzz cats at both scheduled feeding times. There is a small gate that you place in between the bowls. You do not set it perfectly straight to get even amounts, rather, you skew to the right. The reason is that this dispenses from a wheel type mechanism that has a bias to fill more on the right than left, simple physics. Setting the pointer so that when you're looking at it there is about a 1/5th bias towards the right hand side, will open up the dispensing so that more comes in on the left and less comes in on the right. It took exactly ten seconds to figure this out. Just a bit of trial and error and you should be set. The programming isn't intuitive at first, but follow the manual instructions and it works out fine. I do not have to think about what to press to get desired results any longer. The term we used to use back in the day is RTFM (read the "fine" manual), which turns out is great advice. The battery backup is sweet because it seems like the cats might "accidentally" pull the cord out if they're feeling inclined, or frisky, or just want to cause trouble. It uses 3 x C batteries, so come prepared for that as it doesn't ship with batteries in the box. All in all I love the feeder so far, and recommend it (again, so far). Between this, the roomba, my Worx robotic lawn mower and an incoming pet water dispenser, I'm living the life of a proper 21st century gentleman. ... show more

    • Great idea that could be improved.

It is great to have v the option to feed our fur babies while we are not home but there are two shortcomings. 1 The bowels are not easy to remove from the base asc the single bowl design allows it. You have to lift up the main container and then flip around the base. This could be improved easily with a metal tab part if the bowls or an open space on the base to insert a finger. 2 There is no easy way to temporarily suspend the programming. So if you rather not have the machine working the weekends, you have to reprogram it on Friday to not to work and then do it again on Sunday to be able to use it on Monday.
