Description

" 1. Effortless, single-handed operation Featuring a compact, palm-sized body, this model provides a non-slip, rubber-coated exterior to assure firm hold with either hand. Its seesaw-type focus adjustment mechanism assures easy focusing operation by the holding hand, allowing the user to observe a subject with one hand while trekking or hiking, or while carrying a bag with another hand. 2. Bright, clear view All reflective surfaces of the optical elements and prisms are fully multi-coated to prevent excessive reflection. Coupled with phase coating applied to the roof prism, this model boosts transmissivity and delivers outstanding imaging performance with a bright, sharp, high- contrast view of the subject with minimal flare and ghost images. 3.Dedicated accessories that greatly expand the use Using the monocular with the optional smartphone adapter ""V-SA1"" will allow the user to observe a spectacular, magnified view of the subject on the phone's screen and to save the images directly to the device. Also, by mounting an optional macro stand ""V-MS1"", it can be used as a microscope with approximately 18 times magnification to observe an enlarged view of microscopic objects. When the object is dark due to the monocular shadow during observation, you can observe it while illuminating it with the built-in LED light. In addition, using it with ""V-SA1"" can significantly expand the range of use of the main unit, including the ability to shoot and save super close-up images. Depending on your smartphone's size and the position of the camera lens, you may not be able to attach it. Currently under development; official product name, price and marketing date to be announced later. 4. Washable, waterproof body Featuring waterproof construction (equivalent to JIS Class 7; protected against immersion to one meter under the water), this model can be rinsed clean with water, and is usable under all weather conditions. Not usable in the water. 5. Others 1. Wide range of focus adjustment (70cm to infinity), for close-range observation of nearby subjects 2. Exclusive carrying case, with a belt loop on both sides to facilitate access and storage from the users preferred side. 3. Tripod mount, for easy installation of a tripod without an adapter ".

  • Awesome little scope!
This sucker is crystal clear!!! I can't use binoculars because my eyes don't focus the same anymore. There isn't an eye cup so I use my left hand to make "OK" sign and use it to adjust the distance of the monocular to my eye. The focus lever is easy to use, too!

  • Monocular Comparison
So I've been using this Pentax 6x21 for a couple of weeks now. It's been fun and very easy to use. The rocker toggle on top to adjust the sight is very smooth and intuitive after a few moments of playing with it. The optic is very clear and colors look great. It works best when the sun is up, it gets harder to see through during dusk due to the 21mm optic. How it compares to the Carson 6x18 monocular, the most noticeable difference is the eye relief. The Carson needs to be touching my eyelashes to see the whole field of view while the Pentax doesn't need to be held so closely, there is a ton of wiggle room(eye relief) to see through the lense without having to touch your eyelashes, this translates to being able to use it with glasses and not touching those either(no scuffs) while viewing. The second thing I notice between the two monos is glare. The Carson catches more lense refraction pointed towards the sun's incoming rays. It's coated but not nearly as fully multi coated as the Pentax. The Pentax does not pick up any glare during the day or sunset. Now the difference between 6x18 and 6x21. It's the same magnification 6x. Nothing different, they are both true. They can even view very close objects about 4ft which means they are good for museums or anything else that has "no touching" signs. Now for the 18mm vs 21mm. It's not quite as different for viewing different distances, especially closer objects within the 15ft-100ft. The 21mm gives a slightly more field of view. Where the Pentax shines is the eye relief, I belief that helps out with these smaller, lower magnified monos. Now for value. The Pentax is $150+ while the Carson is $20. There is a big difference in cost, manufacturing and viewing. The Pentax is absolutely a quality unit. It's clear, true to color, easier to look through and it's weather proof ipx7. The Carson is not weather proof, no ip rating, the viewing colors are comparable to the Pentax and the viewing capabilities are just a few notches below the Pentax. If you're looking for a small compact unit, either will suffice. The Carson is even smaller. If you have never used a 6x, it's a great starting off point. The sight is narrow but it'll work. If you do have experience with 6x and want a solid piece you can take outside rain or shine and want much more eye relief, get yourself the Pentax. ... show more

  • Best monocular I have used
Brilliant focuser design - very smooth and easy to operate one handed. The 6x magnification makes for steady viewing with the view being crisp edge to edge. The build is solid and the monocular fits my hand well. The macro lens is easy to adjust for close vs distance viewing. As the macro lens is integrated, you don’t have the bother of screwing and unscrewing it when you want to go between distance viewing and macro viewing. I much prefer this to my 8x36 monocular as the field of view is larger and there is less shaking if the image. ... show more

  • Lens Caps for your Pentax Monocular
Fantastic! Provides a very crisp-to-the-edge image. Great eye relief makes for comfortable viewing for this eyeglass wearer. The focusing mechanism is surprisingly precise and holds its position when your fingers are moved off the focus lever. Close focus (4.5ft) is amazing, making toe-gazing possible! as well as viewing insects that might fly, should you get closer! Highly recommended if you are juggling a camera and magnifier around your neck and would prefer not to add the weight of a midsize pair of binoculars to the mix. (Good binoculars absolutely have their place in nature watching, but when photography is the goal, a small, widefield monocular may serve the purpose of finding your photographic target.) My only disappointment is that Pentax did not include lens caps with this fine optic. I measure the eyepiece outer rubber ring diameter as 28.4-28.5mm. The objective outer ring is 36.2-36.4mm. I found that a 28.5mm ID lens cap is perfect for the eyepiece. I could only acquire a 36mm ID cap for the objective. (see photo) It fits a bit too snug. Once on, neither cap will fall off. I am hoping to purchase a 36.3 mm ID cap when they become available. A good place to look for these caps is Agenaastro, etc. Update: For the objective lens, a 36.3 mm cap would be perfect (I think), but that size seems to be on perpetual backorder at Agenaastro. Instead, I purchased a 36.5 mm cap (orange color). As expected, it fit a little loosely so I tightened it up with a thin, smooth layer of GOOP on the inner shoulder of the cap (perfection is not necessary...just keep it thin, you can always add more). The modified cap fits perfectly! It will not fall off; it only comes off (without difficulty) when you take it off. ... show more

  • Failed first time when really needed
Bought this for my trip to peru. Get to the top of machu pechu and the focus button breaks off the top! This moment is what I bought it in the first place! Seams to be held on by a drop of rubber cement. Was able to haphazardly use it and realized it had a pretty decent clear lens but try something built better. ... show more

  • No lens protection
Got the monocular for reading network labels off the ceiling at work (tiny labels 6 feet above our heads). FANTASTIC for this purpose. The clarity through the optics is amazing, and the control on the focus is super precise. Our whole team is very, very impressed. We got the kit that turns it into a microscope and are very impressed with that too although we haven't had a 'real' use for it yet. But pretty sure it will serve well when the time comes. One complaint is the holster that comes with it is pretty much pointless. It is cleverly designed so the monocle can be used while it is still in the case, however it is shortsightedly designed with only a belt loop rather than a clip. So you can use it in the case if you want to take your belt off... It also provides no lens protection, AND in combination with that, getting it in or out of the holster pretty much leads to fingers on lenses unless you are super careful about it. None of us can think of a reason why a person would want to use it with the holster on it anyway. We are a diverse group with many hand sizes and it fits well in the hand for any of us. So, I wish there was an option for a clip on holster with flap so the lenses were protected. We could then pass it around easily, and also put it in a backpack when done without fear of lens damage. ... show more
