This is one fine offshore boat rod with 9 eyes and a lot of backbone. It feels excellent in your hands, and is a joy to fish with. Mine is paired with a Penn Battle III 8000, spooled with 80lb braid. I put it to the test this year, bottom fishing off the coast of South Carolina in an avg. depth of 100 ft. It performed flawlessly. Now I know why they named it Carnage. Catch em up! ... show more

The rubber heat shrink grip with enhanced finger grooves puts this rod over the top for me. It’s light and strong. I appreciate the the 9 high quality eyes on the 7 ft. Rod. I have it paired up with a Penn Spinfisher 5500 that I have spooled up with 40# braid, I expect this rod can handle anything that comes its way down here on the gulf Coast of Florida. I will update my review as I put the Penn Carnage 3 to the test. ... show more

The rod has been great, but it was a Christmas present and came in a box with only half of it there. This sucks on Christmas morning for a 13 year old and is why it got 4 and not 5 stars

    • Awesome spinning rod!
The first real fish I caught on this was a 45" greater amberjack on 15# test. What a fight and amazing performance by this rod. I replaced an original 1998 power graph rod that needs all new eyes with this and was truly impressed. The old rod has landed everything from gobies to 6' hammerheads, 140# tarpon and everything in between. I'm positive that this new rod will give me equal or greater service. I paired this with a Penn Spinfisher V 4500 and it's a perfect offshore and inshore combo. Silky smooth drag! Highly recommend both ... show more

First day out on the boat it got put to the test I got into a 45 inch sturgeon and he was not happy to be hooked after 20 mins of him running under the boat and anchor and prop it bent into a U several times great pole i love it PENN is a awesome brand i also recommend the PENN slammer reel 7500 I purchased at the same time and got 65 lb power pro it fit 360 yards on it the pole also is made for braided line and I love that the reel seat is metal feels super sturdy and the grip is like tread on a tire it looks pretty cool not sure it does anything but its cool. ... show more
