  • I was a bit worried because the condition was listed as good like new and I didn't know what to expect
Color: Licorice
I ordered the peg perego convertable in licorice from Amazon warehouse for almost $100 less than the "new" price of $379. I was a bit worried because the condition was listed as good like new and I didn't know what to expect. I orderd it with prime on a Friday late afternoon and the order said it would be delivered Tuesday by 8pm. I was a little disappointed that it wouldn't come on Monday to make the 2 day shipping prime promise, and yes I am taking into account for Sunday, and most things I order on a Friday night are delivered by Monday night but whatever it's just one extra day I suppose. Anyway the seat came on Tuesday in the afternoon of course during the only 20 minutes I left all morning and went to the store lol. When I got home and saw it I was so excited. On initial examination the box had a tear in the top corner but seemed otherwise fine. I took it inside and opened it up and took out the seat. It was wrapped in a plastic bag and had a kind of zip tie at the top. I pulled the bag off and started a through close examination of the seat. The tags were attached to the seat as if it had never been opened, the instruction manual was there, warranty paperwork was there, everything, all parts and such seemed to be in original factory boxed condition. The seat was clean and smelled brand new like it had never been opened. I started checking the mechanics of it making sure every little thing worked as it should. Yep everything worked. I picked it up and shook it and no rattle of loose screws or broken parts. I took off the padding and made sure all the impact foam was there. Yep all there. Checked the manufacturer date. Yep 2014. So for $280 I got the top of the line fabric and leather licorice version all because the only thing wrong was the box was torn on a corner and the label was a bit rough looking. From what I can tell the seat is brand new never opened or used in anyway and I couldn't be happier! Now I ordered this seat because #1 peg perego makes THE BEST and SAFEST car seats #2 the small footprint of the base looked as though it would work between the 2 booster seats that need to accompany this one in my back seat for my other two older kids. I drive a 2000 Chevy Impala and it does have a roomy back seat area but any parent of multiple small children will know having 3 seats in the back of your car makes things tight. With this seat my older 2 are still able to buckle their seat belts just fine. This peg perego convertible is so roomy for my littlest man too but the way the base is there is still room for an adult with large hands to buckle the other seats no problem. The seat is simple to install and only took me about a minute literally. I have it rear facing right now but even a forward facing position was simple. I did it both ways just to see. Although the seat is roomy it doesn't affect the front seats at all while in the rear facing position. Now for comfort in my opinion this has got to be awsone. The seat is super soft and I wish I could sit in it to try out. But alas I can not so I have to go by how my son reacts in it. The first car ride in this seat was to pick up big brother from school. My little guy had been awake for about 15/20 min from an hour nap. Usually this means there's no way in hell he's going back to sleep any time soon. I put my son in this seat buckled him in and he looked at it checking it out as I got in and started the car. About 2 blocks into our 8 min drive to the school I look back and my little man is passed out. This never happens unless it's a trip at nap time. I thought to myself well maybe he was just still tired. I get to the school pick up brother and back into the car we go, and right back to sleep my little man goes. Ok I think he must still be tired. Well after 4 days of having this seat I am amazed at how much my little guy is sleeping in the car. He is that comfortable. He falls asleep all the time in this seat every time we go somewhere. He hasn't done this since he was an infant. I even took the seat and put it in my living room on the floor to see if he'd sit in it and go to sleep and sure enough he did. If that doesn't say he loves the seat and it must be comfortable I don't know what does. All in all I couldn't be happier with this seat and I am thrilled I got such a great deal on it from Amazon warehouse. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAR SEAT! Oh and on a side note I wish I had gotten this seat when my son was an infant because that infant insert is so thick and cushy I can't imagine a small baby not being comfortable sitting on it. I also recommend trying to buy this on sale through the Amazon warehouse because, well, who doesn't want to save money?! ... show more

  • More frustrating than expected for the money
Color: Atmosphere
I am embarrassed to admit the amount of research I did before purchasing a car seat for my 7 month daughter who has already outgrown her infant carrier. It finally came down to this seat or the Britax Boulevard, and we chose this to try in my SUV. The material is wonderful and my daughter seems to enjoy riding in it (we did an all night drive recently and she slept the entire way in it) and it has good padding. I feel that she would be safe and protected in an accident, but the seat is frustrating. The straps twist and are difficult to get on correctly over her shoulders. Further, it requires a lot of strength to get the straps tight after she's in. I feel like I'm crushing her because I'm pulling so much on the strap to tighten the straps on her shoulder, but when I check, the straps are still incredibly loose on her. The seat was also difficult to position in my car, but I don't know if that is a problem specific to this seat or my car. I have a GMC terrain and the back seat bench isn't flat, it angles down to the back support so there was a large gap under the car seat that we had to stuff with a rolled towel (again, I may have this problem with all seats, but I don't know since I've only tried this seat). I didn't have this problem with Chicco keyfit base for her carrier. Finally, the install was much more difficult than anticipated. One of the latch straps is twisted in the clip so it's impossible to tighten or loosen it to get in installed. It took 2 of us together pushing on it to get it latched in tightly and if you use the teether, it causes the seat to tilt to whatever side it's tethered just ever so slightly. As a result of the frustration, we did purchase the Britax for my husband's car a few days ago,and I'll provide an update after we install it if I have a preference for that seat. UPDATE: We did install the Britax in my husband's Jeep, but ended up giving it to my mother-in-law and the husband bought yet a third car seat. I didn't use the Britax all that much, but he really disliked it. He said the shoulder straps were very low coming from the back over her shoulders and more difficult to use. My annoyance with the Britax was the release button for the harness. It is set really far down into the seat so you need long fingers and good finger strength to push it to release the harness. I'm right handed,, but had to use my left hand (because the car seat was behind the passenger seat) and had a difficult time with it. I also thought the strap on the buckle is pretty short so the buckle could easily irritate the legs because it rests right in between the legs. I will say that the Britax seat does seem roomier then the Peg Perego and installation was much easier. But, my husband and I both agree that we like the Peg Perego much better. I believe he ultimately bought one of the Graco car seats and is very happy with it. The Graco wasn't a lot cheaper than these 2 seats, but he went with it because it's not as bulky, but just as safe. The britax and peg perego have enormous footprints in cars and take up a lot of space. In my suv it's not a problem, but the wrangler's backseat is not as wide and deep as you might think. The britax took up a lot of room and made the front passenger seat almost useless because it had to be so far forward for the car seat to fit behind it. In the few times I rode in the wrangler with the britax installed, I sat in the backseat with the baby because the front seat was too uncomfortable. Further Update 2.11.18: I am not a fan of this car seat and wish I had purchased the Graco my husband purchased. His came with a cup holder which is incredibly useful - this seat does not. Maybe they sell that accessory separately, but for the money I spent, that would be obnoxious to have to pay separately for a plastic cup holder. Further, this seat is not as roomy as the Graco seat and my daughter gets upset sometimes when I put her in it. My daughter is now 20 months old and large for her age (35 inches, 34 lbs) and just doesn't seem to fit comfortably in the seat. I have no interest in purchasing a 4th car seat now so she'll have to make do. I have a 2 month old who may inherit this seat when she is older (she is running much thinner so far so maybe she'll fit better) and I'll get the older daughter a new, roomier car seat. Regardless, I will need to purchase another car seat in the future for one of the kids and it will not be this seat. ... show more
