Introducing the Panavise 305 Low PROFILE BASE, Lowest profile Base on the market! For working closely to the bench surface, this Base accepts all 300 series Heads. Accepts all 300 series Heads and any 5/8-Inch (15.9mm) diameter shaft. Use with the 304 Low- Profile Head to create a very Low-profile vise. Single control knob and exclusive split-ball locks Head firmly in place. Base features 4.3125-Inch (109.5mm) bolt circle countersunk for three 1/4 (6.3mm) flat-head screws (not included). Height: 2.5 (63.5mm), Weight: 1.3 lbs. (0.6kg).

I now own four Panavise base units, but this is the first low profile I've purchased. It is being used to hold a vintage articulated lamp / magnifying lens on my workbench.     • Over the years I always looked at these but never spent the money to buy one - I should have!
Been soldering circuit boards since the dawn of time and had some make shift clumsy circuit board holder. I finally broke down and spent the money to kit up a PanaVise system with 315 head and absolutely love it. I suggest also buying the 305 mini vise because the jaws on the 315 are larger and work on 75% of the boards but not so much on the small boards with components near the edge. Now I can switch between the two in a twist of the knob. Another work of advise, don't bolt it down to your bench, bolt it to a nice flat piece of hardwood with that sticky style shelf liner on the bottom, stays put, doesn't tip over, and you can move it when you want the bench back. ... show more

Honestly I expected better quality. The unit should have a metal handle like the PanaVise Desk Clamp has. Gives a much better purchase on tightening and loosening things. Could also use thicker/better quality metal for the inner clamps for the rotating bar for holding the PanaVise jaws of your choosing. Personally I chose the extra wide opening one. Even the quality of that is questionable but I'll do a write up on that separately. TL;DR Overall I like the form factor of the low profile base but I feel it needs the metal handle and better material to screw into for the inner clamps. It hasn't broke yet but I feel like I can't trust tightening it enough. ... show more

I bought this and the low profile head for use at my jeweler's bench. Even though most vises are adjustable, they are hard to work with on a regular basis for fine detail work because they stick too far up, out, or both. This is a quality, refined, well-built unit that adjusts easily, locks tight, and is capable of holding your work down at a reasonable level.
