Description

I recently received a testimonial from a service technician in Wichita, Kansas. He told me his customer brought in a 2006 Chevy with 3.6L engine, and the oil light was on. It had been 15,000 miles since the last oil change! Her engine was completely sludged, and it actually sounded like a diesel. The technician figured it needed a new engine; but then remembered his BG rep talking about a BG EPR® Engine Performance Restoration®. The tech admitted he didn’t think it would work; but what the heck. He cleaned the valve cover and pan and did two oil changes using BG EPR®. Much to his surprise, halfway through the second service, the engine quieted and smoothed out. He saved that lady several thousand dollars, and she’s still driving the car today! The longer I work at BG, the more I’m amazed at what all of our products do. In the last several years, I’ve heard great things about BG EPR® from technicians from here to Nigeria. Since the introduction of BG EPR® (originally named BG 109) in 2005, we’ve seen nothing but OUTSTANDING test results. 109The results are in: BG EPR® is outstanding! Original testing of BG EPR® consisted of performing before and after compression tests with an oil change including BG EPR® in between. Compression affects the overall power output and drivability of the engine. Results from multiple vehicles proved that BG 109 did raise compression. The results also showed an improvement on individual cylinders that were showing lower compression than the other cylinders of the same engine. • Just like others have stated, this stuff really does clean!
Used this on my son's new-to-us '97 4 Runner with over 200k on the odometer. I replaced the oil when we first got it and put a few hundred miles on it before I used this stuff. I wanted to make sure there was new oil in the engine, as the previous owner said it was almost due for a change when we bought it. The oil was still like new and had no color yet, so using this stuff would really give me an idea on how well it would do. Boy was I shocked at what came out 20 minutes later!!! I love BG Products and have used 44K for decades in all my vehicles, as well as MOA on a few engines too, but I was still skeptical on how well this would clean. Let me first say that I have never, in all my years of wrenchin' on stuff, smelled such a foul chemical! This stuff just plain stinks! It permeated my shop for 2 days (I won't do this in winter again in my closed shop, that's for sure!)!!! So, in goes the can, I pull the vehicle outside to let it idle for 10 minutes, shut it off and check the dipstick. Yeah, just what I thought, oil still looks clean and clear. Well, time to take it for a little drive through the neighborhood, maybe it just needs to cycle through at a slightly higher rpm. I literally drove it around two loops in my neighborhood, never getting over 2,000rpm, just kind of idling through most of it. I pull back in my shop, shut it down and check the dipstick. WTH?!?!?! Its like dark chocolate now! Okay, let's drain this thing and see what it comes out like. Yep!!! It is BLACK AS NIGHT!!! I noticed too that the area under the oil cap is not gunky or brown any more, its freakin' clean in there!!! I let the runner sit overnight with the oil filter and oil pan drain plug off so everything drips down and out. Screw the plug back in the next day, screw a new oil filter on, drop 5 quarts of Mobil1 in it and go for a 20 minute drive. Its idling really smooth now, and the damned thing feels peppy for a 200k+ vehicle! Yep!!! She's able to break the wheels loose at stop signs now!!! The engine never smoked before, and its not smoking now either, so that's a good sign! Its been about a month since we did this service and the oil is still nice and clean, no lopey idle, runs really smooth, feels like a new engine! I'm sold on this stuff for cleaning up a high-mileage engine! Hell, I may even use a small amount of it on my ride-on lawn mower just to make sure the oil rings aren't gunked up, because I'm pretty sure that's where a lot of the black stuff came from. If you have an old, high mileage engine that you want to give a good cleaning to from the inside, look no further, BG's cleaner will definitely clear out the greasy, varnished gunk in just a few minutes and might even restore a little pep back into your vehicle! ... show more

  • Holy moly, this product actually works! Oil consumption fixed - Power restored!!
My 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited has had an oil consumption issue and lifter tick since I bought it used with 83K miles. It has 216K miles now and I have to add about a quart of oil every 600 miles. Previously, thinking it was an oil leak, I tried ATP 205 twice, to no effect. I used an engine sludge product called Auto-RX twice when I bought but it didn't help with the oil consumption. I tried Restore Engine Restorer which helped with improving compression, but it didn't fix the oil consumption. I always used synthetic oil - Pennzoil Platinum or Mobil 1 but later I switched to hi mileage synthetic blend and that didn't help. At 215K miles the engine performance was very sluggish and the engine struggled going up hill. I got the engine hot, then did an BG EPR flush cycle for 20 mins. I added a can of Engine Restorer and filled with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Immediately the loud engine lifter tick disappeared. There used to be a slight puff of dark smoke on first start (not the valve stem seals, I replaced those) and that disappeared too. The engine is running amazing. It always idled smoothly, but now it's so quiet I can't tell if it's on. Performance is completely restored to new. It's been 800 miles since I did the service, and the oil level is exactly where I filled it. I highly recommend BG EPR! I think it cleaned out my stuck piston rings. ... show more

  • Really made a difference, however
We have a 237k mile sequoia. Upon doing the valve cover gaskets, I saw more than I wanted to see. The previous owner did those 10-15k mile oil change intervals. We used this to clean out some of that junk. To our surprise it completely cleaned it out. The engine ran smoother and quieter. Additionally my mpg went from 15 to 18. We even averaged 21 on a recent road trip. Now I’m not sitting here and saying that this stuff is adding power and mileage you should do this, yadda yadda. What I am saying is due to the previous owners lack of routine maintenance, my engine got dirty and this cleaned it up. That said, I’d highly recommend this for cleaning out someone’s mistakes. You won’t need it every ol change if you change you oil every 5k or so. At the end of the day oil is cheaper than an engine so do your oil changes! ... show more

  • Oil Was Still Clean After Weeks Driving And The Car Ran better even with 140,000 miles on Odometer
I was a non-believer until now. Being a car guy and always hearing about this stuff, and seeing the professional shops pushing it I did my research. I thought what the heck I'll try this stuff out once during an oil change. This stuff truly works. I'm a die hard fix my own car kind of guy. After using this stuff and the BP MOA oil additive the car runs so smoothly. Better than before. We have a 2015 Jaguar XF 2.0 Liter turbo with 145,000 miles on it. After the first use, and the fresh oil was put in the engine, I checked it after a week. I have never seen the oil so clean. As if the car had a fresh engine installed. Car guys know what im talking about. Older engines gunk up and carbon up. Even after an oil change the oil never looks like the oil in a fresh engine. This stuff really cleaned the inside of the engine to the point the oil looks cleaner even after driving the car around... just wow. Cleaner oil means better lubrication. That combined with the BP MOA oil additive is a game changer. I take good care of all my cars and this stuff is now part of the regular maintenance routine. There are a lot of gimmick products out there, but these BP products are awesome. I am now a believer! ... show more
