for the right application, this rack is a great value and it looks sharp on most cars/SUVs. but for any significant weight over 75-100 lbs, you'll need to upgrade to a more expensive rack. for my 2005 Honda CRV, a bike AND a full cargo box were too much for this rack (see photo). the amount of clearance the cross bars have from the roof of the car is just not enough to support the 150 lbs stated in the literature. UPDATE: i'm updating this review only 2 weeks after the original and unfortunately lowering my stars from 4 to 3. the decorative caps (2 of the 4) popped off while driving and they're gone now - making the rack look terrible. this CAN happen routinely i think because i had registered during the install that the caps were a little, unstable let's say, in their design and worried that they could loosen up and might not stay on. they didn't. really wanted to love it but can't recommend this product. ... show more

EDIT: Another end piece cover came off on the freeway, so I edited from two stars to one. Go buy another rack. The end product is strong - but that doesn’t make up for the poorly-made components, poor instructions, and poor customer service. You’ll notice that an endpiece is missing from one side of my racks. It came off on its own. The pieces themselves, such as the rubber bases and housing base, do not fit well together. The instructions fail to mention that the product must be DISASSEMBLED to an extent, and placed in a new configuration, before the rack can be properly installed. (I wasted three hours trying to follow their instructions, before figuring things out on my own.) Finally, I contacted them to ask for a replacement cover because I’d prefer that these metal pieces be protected from the elements. No answer after nearly three business days. The caps dont stat in place once the racks were installed. I ended up used adhesives ro keep them on. Do not over tighten and strip the cheap bolts either.

Lost all of the caps. Included bolts barley hold down. Would not recommend.
