My interest in thermal camera was initiated by the inspection of my new home. I contracted an inspection team who provided me with details of my home pipe line, electrical circuits, floor and roof condition, and they included a lot of photos including thermal images. I was very impressed by the report detail they provided, and I thought they must have a very expensive camera for that. Few months later I find this attachment for high quality thermal images for iPhone & Android, needless to say I jumped at the opportunity to own one of these. I downloaded the app, updated the firmware, and started the setup on my iPhone. It works great, offers a ton of value for something so small and simple. For me this is something any regular homeowner could benefit from.

I am still amazed how how can something so small work so well. this is my first time using a product from Thermal Master and I am very impressed. The initial setup started off super easy: I plugged the USB camera into my iphone 16 pro Max (with a case) and my phone prompted me to download the app. The app installed and started with no issue, then it started updating the firmware of the camera - which they should document in their manual since it could take several updates and about 10 minutes total for everything to update. I obeyed the on screen instructions to not disconnect the camera or exit the app while it update, and at times I wondered if things got stuck, but it eventually finished all of the updates. Their software doesn't do 1 big update, it does multiple minor updates, so it gives the appearance something may be wrong - but trust me, it's updating itself. I really like that the camera works WITH a phone case, and being USBC you can install it with the camera facing either direction. The App works, though it's user interface has a learning curve, and even after a week I'm still figuring out what all it can do. The camera is extremely light weight and you wont notice it except for the extension in the height of your phone. I've had no connectivity issues on the iPhone - the camera is detected every time and works flawless. The camera has a long range for detecting the thermal fingerprint - my kids have gone outside to detect deer nearby un our wooded yard, along with other small animals living in the trees and forest area. I've found it excellent for finding drafts in doors and windows which will lead to better winters and lower heating costs. I also used it to find the source of a small water leak - and I was shocked at where the leak was coming from, I would not have found that on my own. For me this is a general thermal camera, something a regular homeowner could benefit from. It works great, offers a ton of value for something so small and simple, and doesn't have a massive impact on better lift. I have no issues recommending this or even encouraging all home owners to have one. I could also see this benefiting mechanics or anyone interested in being able to see the thermal differences in the the world.

I got the P1 thermal camera to check for cold and hot spots around the house. Using my iPhone 16 it attaches through the USB-C port. As with most new things I download the app and was off and scanning. Although the resolution of 320x240 isn't as sharp and crisp as my other thermal camera, it does provide the ability to find those problem areas. The zoom feature is great for reaching the high vaulted ceilings areas. A nice tool to have in your tool chest. I know there will be more tasks that I will find the thermal camera useful for.

I'm an Android developer, so setup should have been easy peasy for me, but it wasn't. The QR link on the box takes you to Google Drive link for an app (APK). That's a pretty sketchy way to install an app. Unfortunately(?), the link didn't work. After I gave up on that, I found the app on the Play Store. I have a pool of Android devices. Of the 4 I tried, only one worked. I tried a Samsung Note S20 (worked), Pixel 8 Pro (failed), Redmi Note 13 Pro (failed) and a Samsung Tab S 7 FE (failed). All of the devices recognized the device USB device, but only 1 could connect to it. The fix: On a hunch, I went into the app settings on my Pixel and manually enabled the Mic and Photos/Video permissions. The app didn't ask me for those permissions, but granting them fixed it. Once I got the app working, it was actually pretty cool (see the image). Issues: - Accuracy does seem pretty suspect. I pointed it at tile counter top and it read 63 degrees. I used an IR reader (68.9) and my Pixel Pro 8 thermometer (68.5). The app does have an offset, but the temperature reading wasn't consistent with multiple reads. - I ran into an issue where you couldn't read the hot temperatures since the hot surface color was red and so was the temperature number. I fixed this by using the gray scale image. It seems like a pretty simple fix for the colored views.

I picked this up to check insulation and it’s been pretty eye opening. It plugs in easily and the app was simple to figure out. The image quality is clear enough to spot temperature differences right away. I’ve already used it to find drafts and hot spots. Useful if you like knowing what’s really going on around the house.

Long lasting charge, connects quickly and easily to my Galaxy S24Ultra, and the images are of good quality. We were testing it out with our 3D printers, looking for uneven bed heating or inconsistent nozzle temperatures. The app is functional (good thing because there is very minimal instructions!), has several modes, and the screen includes readings such as temperature and color readings. Next task, checking out a circuit board on our competition robot.
