Who deserves the very best? Every single pet. And so we made this OXO 4.4 Qt Pet POP Container to hold their kibble and keep it fresh. It can store up to 4 pounds of dog food or 3.5 pounds of cat food. It has the classic POP Container lid, which creates an airtight seal (to keep pests and moisture out) and can easily be taken apart for cleaning. This Container also comes with a detachable ½ cup scoop, for easy serving. And like all our square POP Containers, it can be neatly lined up or stacked to streamline the look of a shelf, counter or pantry. For best results, always use the button to open and close. Do not carry POP Containers by the lid. Dishwasher safe.

So, for some reason, nobody else in the world who has bought this used it for rice, or could say how much rice of what type they were able to fit into this exact container. I know they make dispensers EXACTLY for rice, but none of them had the look I wanted in my kitchen. In my opinion the OXO aesthetic is top tier for the kitchen. So, I had my heart set on the largest container they make, this one, for my 10 pound bag of long grain white jasmine rice. This is the "OXO Good Grips Pet POP Container – 6.0 Qt/5.7 L with Half Scoop" The container is perfect. It literally fits exactly 10 pounds of my rice, as I buy it in 10 pound units. There's just under an inch of space remaining between the top of the rice and the bottom of the container's lid. I spent an hour trying to translate the density and weight of "dog food and cat food" into rice. Not easy, and I really wasn't sure if my math was correct. But it turns out converting the liters into cups, volume wise, DOES actually check out when calculating the volume of rice. Not the pet food. As for the container itself besides size, it arrived perfectly, crystal clear, and it does have a plastic smell initially when you open it. But I rinsed mine with dish soap for a few minutes, dried it, and it was pristine. My lid's button does have a small scuff on it, but unless you have it in the perfect light and know where it is, it's not visible. I won't dock a point for it. Overall I'd say there are other containers that do something similar for significantly cheaper, but I saw this one and knew I had to have it. This one is definitely expensive. As others have said, the lid is not strong enough to hold up the entire container when it is full, so DO NOT try to carry the container by the lid. The small scoop also slots very firmly into the underside of the lid (inside the container) and is a helpful addition. To wrap things up, if you have a similar predicament where you either must have this container, or need to store 10 pounds of rice (long grain in my case), this is perfect and I recommend buying it. ... show more

We needed something to store the milk bone treats we give to our dog (they're huge, so we break them up and put them into a smaller container than the original 5 pound box. This container holds quite a bit (no, not all 5 pounds) and the pop to lid (press to pop up lid and remove - then place lid and press to seal ... had to teach that to the husband) and so far our food motivated dog has not figured out how to knock it off the shelf and get it open. I do, however, think that a smarter dog, child, person would be able to quickly figure out how to break into it. 😁 For out needs, this works great. For our other food storage, I prefer pourable or snaplock opaque containers for freshness and protection of light sensitive foods. When taking the photo, I also noticed this shows fingerprints - you CAN catch whose getting into the cookie jar? Otherwise, this is a great storage solution that is easy to clean. ... show more

I use it for flour. It fits a 5lb bag from the store perfectly. Easy and fast to open and close, and I love that little scooper that comes with it. Plastic is good quality but I dont think the suction on the lid is very strong. It keeps bugs out but I feel it comes off easily when I pull on it. Gave it 4 stars as I fear the lid will just pop off if I drop it or something so I'm careful when I handle the container. ... show more
