Got it put together with instructions that were only pictures. No written instructions. We had it up and it provided the shade we wanted. We had a 1/2 inch of rain and the water pooled on top and the entire thing bent in the middle.

It was easy to set up but a couple of the cross brace holes did not line up so had to drill out holes larger. Assembled by myself by tying the four uprights to freestanding furniture then assembling.

We were pumped to find a product that would fit on our deck to help provide shade during the hot summer days. We have a south facing deck that gets full sun all day from 11am until around 7:30pm. First disappointment was that it came in two shipments on two different days. With only one shipping number and no indication to expect two boxes. So we thought we were shorted some parts. Everything ended up coming eventually so, yay! Second disappointment was that I read the measurements incorrectly and the shaded area wasn’t the size we thought it would be. That is completely my fault so we’re working with it. It is what it is. Third disappointment was how it “handled” mild wind. Which is to say, not at all. My husband luckily came home at lunch to find that the locks for the shade didn’t hold in the mild wind (for our area, 16mph is fairly common). So he bungeed the bars down so that it wouldn’t get ruined. Not exactly what we were hoping for. We will deal with it until we find a better solution, or until it really breaks. The instructions were very simplistic and not 100% clear. We’re smart people so we did figure it out. But there were some vague and/or confusing parts. Note: it’s been up for 4 days. I love the shade it provides. I love that I can adjust where the shade is so we can enjoy being on the deck in the evenings without getting fried. I am looking forward to summer break and sitting out while the kids are in the pool and not dying in the heat. I am worried about the June storms and how it will weather. I guess we shall see.

Easy to assemble and very sturdy. However the only issue I had with it was the plastic/rubber locks for the adjustable cover were about a half inch short. A 20 mph wind was able to make that lock slide around causing the cover to come loose and flap around in the wind. If you have any nicks or scratches on the really nice paint, I recommend using rust-oleum "hammered" paint. I used it and you can't tell where I painted. Also, the Allen wrench included is NY going to cut it. I used my drill with an Allen bit. I bought 4 of them so my grapes would have a place to stretch out next to my house.

Love the look of our pergola. We love enjoying the outdoors weather permitting. We did replace the canopy with a more sturdy one as after the first major storm ours got ripped up. If the winds are strong make sure you securely retract or remove your canopy.
