A really nice product. I needed the retractable shade for privacy from my neighbors pool and can lower it to touch the patio furniture. I can move the shade easily and wrapped it in a tarp for winter. I've seen dots of rust so we sprayed all connections and keep that up. Sturdy - not a nightmare to put together, just keep organized and watch orientation of the parts, lay them out. Takes another pair or two of hands to stand it, then only 2 ppl can complete. I recommend ground screws to hold it down.

We have never been able to use our patio because of the sun. This pergola is perfect for our needs. The material is heavy duty and blocks the sun well. We can change the configuration based on the time of day. The units locks on either side so it is able to withstand the wind (which we have plenty of). It does collect the hard rain, but we just use a broom underneath to gently guide the water off so there have been no issues. We were missing some parts and customer service was very quick and responsive. We had a contractor assemble this unit and it was completed quickly on a Saturday morning. He commented on how easy it was to assemble and how sturdy the unit is. We are very happy with this unit.

Cons: Close to perfect because the fabric is not waterproof. Everything underneath gets soaked and some of the rain pools in the fabric and dumps out everywhere when you move the fabric or the wind blows. We are going to mount a translucent waterproof tarp over the top and see if this solves the problem. I wouldn't trust using the flimsy spikes included. When the wind blows the fabric acts a sail on a sailboat and this would be be a disaster if you used them. Pros: Assembled easily because all parts were well marked. I takes 2 people to assemble. We bolted ours down permanently to cement pillars that we poured in the ground which made the frame rock solid sturdy. It looks awesome over our floating deck! Love the way the fabric can be pulled by the handles to adjust for privacy and shade.

This canopy was a total waste of money. It's nice, unless it does this crazy thing called Rain. I would not recommend this item to anyone and the return window is just long enough so that you won't notice how worthless this item is. It holds all of the rain water until the cross beams snap. Rain=trip to Trash can for this trash. Find something else please. Don't waste your hard earned money! If you do purchase this item, just screen shot this review and take a glance at it on your way to the trash can!

The canopy holds rain water so we'll it bends the top support bars. Should be a more porous material to prevent that. The fabric tore with the weight of the rain pooled on top. Loved it otherwise but got rid of it because we didn't want to weld the bars and replace the canopy every 2 years.

We initially loved this until we had days of rain. Other reviewers pictures accurately show what happens. We’ve been without a canopy cover for 10 months and hope to find a replacement. The company does not offer a replacement canopy. If you purchase this, be prepared to remove the canopy top frequently to avoid weather damage.
