I bought 3 of these switches 3 years ago to control my outdoor Christmas lights. These worked so well I've converted the plugs to control my accent lighting during the rest of the year that my Christmas lights are not up. When I bought Bistro lights for my backyard I bought a 4th plug, it too has worked like a charm. To give you some background I'm a home automation nerd. If I can automate it. I've done it. I've worked with other smart plugs in the past and can say that they can sometimes be tricky, Not always wanting to connect to your wifi when they are 1st set up, or re-connect if there is a power outage. That was not the case with these. All 4 of mine connected to the smart life app without any issue, and after 3 years, I've never had an issue with them not auto reconnecting after a power outage. My units also live outdoors 24x7x365 and deal with seasonal weather changes. So far they are still going strong. Wow, when combined with Alexa, this is AI (not at all in its infancy). I set it up to control a waterfall fountain (they make them for use in back yards, in bedrooms, etc.). Yeah, you can use your phone to turn it on and off. But what's really cool is linking it with Alexa and telling her to "turn on the waterfall" or to turn it off -- from any position in the room or adjacent room. And I also set it for what time to automatically turn it on in the morning and what time to turn it off, for any specific day or every day. BUT you need a lot of patience or some good tech support because there are three apps to deal with using instructions that look well organized but are not always clear and may be difficult for some (like me) to follow. Pros: easy setup on WiFi and good radio for communication. this is about 50 ft from the house in the backyard. easy to configure in the app and link to Google Home. Nice to have all smart devices in one app. Cons: the power cord is too short... maybe 6" so I need an extension cord. I've created a schedule in the SmartLife app for outlet 1 where the pump is plugged in. i can turn the pump off and on from the SmartLife app and Google Home... but the schedule doesn't work. followed the directions even though it's really easy to configure the schedule. still working on the schedule pretty good product after a number of bad ones purchased on Amazon. ... show more

Purchased Jun 23, 2026, and died July 24, 2026. The smart plug turns on when plugged in. I can add it to the SmartLife app. I can see the light change when pressing the button on the smart plug or when I toggle the power in the app. But when I plug anything into either of the 2 sockets, there's no power. ... show more

Have had it for about two weeks. Easy to setup when following the small print instructions. Set it up indoors first, with a lamp connected, to be sure that it was working properly before moving it outdoors to control a small pool pump. Getting Alexa to recognize it could have been explained better. To setup the Tessan device you first have to use smartwifi app that they tell you to download in order to connect it to your wifi network. That went smoothly. Then you can tell Alexa to add the smartwifi to its devices. Now we can control it with any Alexa device in the house, and also remotely from the Alexa app on the phone. I'm using this control my Christmas lights. It lets me set start and times according to time of day and day of the week. And that can be set for each individual plug. The wifi range is just fine for me. Had no issue connecting to wifi from about 60 feet away and through doors and walls. The instructions we re easy to follow. I integrated mine with Google and it setup just fine there too. I can give voice commands to my Google devices or manipulate it through the app and the device responds correctly. Being Wifi, I can control it from anywhere. I don't have to be home, and I don't have to set the length of hours to run based on when I press a button. We use this on our above ground pool to control the pool filter pump, and in pool lighting. Load the app. onto your phone and you have remote access to the control and are able to program the switch programing. It works great.
