I recently ordered some front door light fixtures, but after receiving them, I felt like they were too small for my front door size. I ordered this Smeike light as a replacement, and it is plenty big. Here is what I noted while setting it up: * Some of the other lights I have purchased were parts kits. This light is fully assembled and is packed VERY well. * I measured my light, and it was ~15 inches tall (380mm), so as advertised. * The lamp frame is metal with a nice matte black finish. The glass is antique style water glass which helps to diffuse the light (more pleasant illumination). Each glass panel is held in by a bracket and screw so you can replace a panel if necessary. I really like the appearance of this design. * A mounting bracket, screws, and wire nuts are included (as well as the fixture wire). * I prefer a light fixture with a replaceable bulb (vs integrated LED). The pic below is with an 8.5W LED bulb (60 W incandescent equivalent). * The wiring instructions are detailed and better than most, and the wire colors are identified. * The internal bulb sticker is dark colored and not visible, and there is a water drainage hole in the bottom of the light housing. * I did notice slight flex between the metal support rod for the lamp and the base. This lamp is large, and weight is significant. The support rod/beam is secured at the back of the base with a nut/bolt. In addition, a large washer to spread the force, and I can see some reinforcement in the base. It looks ok to me (see picture). I thought this Smeike lamp was a bit pricey, but after comparing this model to some equivalent units at a local store, this lamp is a good value. I may have to order another. If you are looking for a large fixture with delicate lantern features and water glass, this is a good choice. Recommended.

I really like this light, but unfortunately the one I purchased and the replacement both arrived broken. It is not packaged well at all. So sad, bc now I have to find an alternative.

This is perfect for our front porch. The porch did not previously have a pendant lamp, but when I finished one of the upstairs bedrooms I ran a line out to the middle of the porch ceiling and connected it to one of the switches in a three-gang box. Everyone had been asking what the end switch was for - now they know! Since it was adding an additional light, the smaller size is a plus that adds illumination to a porch that already had a side light and a solar motion light. It makes for lots of choices and it looks great!

Prior to this good-quality lamp purchase I had made another purchase, and that particular lamp arrived broken in lots of tiny slivers. It was low quality, with thin glass. I decided to order a better quality lamp, and one with tempered glass - if I could find it. This lamp seemed to be what I wanted, so I took a chance and ordered. Plus, it has a one-year warranty. This lamp arrived in a box twice the size of the previous (lower quality, broken) lamp, which gave me some confidence. I shook the box little; no broken glass. After unwrapping the inner box I examined the lamp. It was heavier than the other lamp, and the metal is not rough around the edges. The plate that mounts on the wall is slightly larger, which is a good thing, as I didn't want a hole or gap from the current defective lamp I am replacing. The water glass gives it a classy look. This is not a lamp with an irreplaceable LED bulb, but a traditional lamp where you replace the light bulb as needed. What I really like, though, is that it has a closed base, which needs to be unscrewed with two tiny bolts from the top. The base is meant to deter moths! from entering the light and building cocoons inside. This reduces maintenance and keeps the lamp clean. I haven't yet had the opportunity to wire in the lamp (constant rain) but I will update as soon as I do so.

Another reviewer commented on this and I thought “how bad can it be?” It’s going to be a pain and turn what should be a 30 second job into 5+ minutes and likely require a wrench. It’s also painful and as the globe won’t hang on its own until you get the 2nd but in place. It also eliminates the wife from ever doing this chore on her own. But other than that seems well made and look nice.

These lights arrived well packaged so no issues there. I am not an electrician and when lights need to be installed I hire one to do the work so I do not speak to the installation or electrical aspects of fixtures, (please look to other reviewers for that info). I ordered two different versions of this light as in hanging and wall mounted and I was actually a bit surprised exactly how big the light fixtures were because they are definitely bigger than most. If you have an impressive front doorway or maybe a horse barn these may be the lights for you. When I saw the light and the glass used I remembered some lighthouses we have been to so hence the name. Neither have been installed yet but I think when they are they will be impressive. I like what seems to be quality glassware and the aluminum won't rust on you. I really can't see any flaws to complain about as it is well made and looks and feels fairly durable. I would call this both rustic and modern looking and although I would have preferred an oil rubbed look the matte black is the next best thing. I like these lights and now wish I had a horse barn but we got rid of the horses awhile back (they ate too much).

It is beautiful once it is up. But there is one challenge. To replace the bulb, you have to unscrew two little tiny nuts, and they are upside down. So if you miscalculate by a smidge, the nut slips off, falls on the ground. Since these are outdoor lights, they will bounce everywhere and they are impossible to find. Fortunately, I had a spare, after spending a ton of time trying to find the fallen nut. Maybe contractors have a trick, but I don't know it. If you have fat fingers, it is a bit of a challenge. But now that it is up, it works beautifully!! I'm just not looking forward to having to change the bulb again.
