We tried another type of tracker that needed a cell signal, which didn't work for us since we mostly boondock (off-grid) camp without a signal. I've now used this a few times with excellent results. I don't need a fancy GPS map of where my pup is. I just need to know the direction to look/walk and how far away he is. I can take it from there. Our standard poodle (pictured) loves to explore, so he disappears quickly! He always comes back, but we like the peace of mind as to how far off he's wandered. My first test with it was in our neighborhood. We attached it to his winter duck coat, but I just clipped it on with a clothes pin. My wife and him headed in one direction and I went in the opposite direction. It lost connection at about 1600 ft, but pointed me to the last point before losing track. As I got closer, I could tell they weren't moving. As I got closer they walked in front of me down the street, which didn't make sense. As I followed the signal further I discovered the GPS unit had fallen off (due to my shoddy attempt at attaching it to him). If it's accurate enough for me to find the small GPS unit, it's accurate enough for me to find a 45 lb dog! We now attach it to his harness and it's never come off, even when he's hit full speed in an all-out sprint. Pros: Excellent battery life. Small enough for great portability in your back pocket. Just don't sit down with it there! The dog unit is very small so he doesn't even know it's there. Very accurate and consistent. Cons: Once in a while, you do have to do a few figure 8's with your wrist to get the compass to read accurately after you take it out of your pocket. Not a big deal. Also, and this is minor, but you can't see the LCD screen if you wear polarized sunglasses. I'm in the optical business, so I understand that I just have to rotate the screen or my head 45 degrees to see it again. If the manufacturer wants to make improvements to the next version, they would make the LCD polarization at 45 degrees (standard in the industry) rather than 180 degrees.

It's really not easy to choose a dog GPS tracker for my furry friend. I'm a technical guy, but it’s still difficult. First of all, I know that almost all dog trackers use GPS, and whether the positioning is accurate is related to GPS, but the accuracy is easily affected by the environment. If you are in a dense city or dense forest, any dog GPS is difficult to give peace of mind; but when you‘re in a sunny open area, the GPS is good, regardless of which dog tracker collar it is. Of course provided that the product design does not have bugs. Second, the bigger difference between trackers is whether they rely on cellular signals. Tractive, which requires a monthly fee, usually relies on cellular networks, should you choose it? The easiest way is to reach the places your dog frequents and check your cell phone signal, if it's good, then you can use it; if the signal is unstable, then your tractive such a tracker with subscription will not perform well. This is my case, living in the country, he became an escape artist, he always goes to places where is no phone signal, this aorkuler GPS dog collar works well and it solved my problem. Although I can guess where he might to go, I would still be very worried if I didn't know exactly where he was located. I don't need an APP provided by tractive because features like e-fence are always not accurate; also features for activity monitoring don't make sense. If you want to take seriously the activity data, you find they are of little use, like the first generation of fitbit more than a decade ago, and the really valuable data they can't monitor. Most apps of gps tracker for dogs just have a beautiful surface, the practical is not good, either the fence is not accurate enough, or poor user experience, or the data monitored by outdated technology lacks value. And with no APP, I not only save the monthly fee, but also do not have to hold up the phone without signal to look around. While I did well in my privacy protection, no app to steal data also gives me complete peace of mind.

Surprise, but in the right environment I live with my dog in the suburbs where there is no phone signal and I usually go hiking on weekends, so I returned the previous tracker that had a monthly fee and they were useless in places without cellular signal. After a few days of testing, it performed satisfactorily in most scenarios. My puppy could easily take off from shock, and I can not find him in areas where shrubs blocked the view. But this tracker can show me the direction and distance very quickly, which is a fresh and exciting experience, like a compass, or radar mode proposed by other vendors. The battery power performs well in this radar mode. The satellite connection is faster in better weather, about ten seconds at the fastest, but sometimes three minutes of patience at the slowest It is worth mentioning that when I am about to approach my dog, the screen will change to nearby, which is very convenient with the sound function, the sound is louder and helps to find the dog in close proximity quickly without looking around. It doesn't require an app or Bluetooth connection to my phone, so I can put my phone away while walking my dog. It does not require a subscription, so you can just take it out and use it. It still has some shortcomings. If you are only using the tracker indoors or within the city, then going for another tracker with a subscription is a reliable option. If you use it where there are very dense forests, it does not work very well and is not recommended, as I had spent 1 hour doing tests. Also, it has a frustrating strap design that is difficult to remove. Customer service told me that a new strap would be available in a few days and sent to me as a replacement part, I will update then.

My friend recommends this tracker to me! My dog Annie loves hiking with us and I was looking for a device that can help me find her if she gets lost. This Aorkuler is perfect for her because it requires no application, and provides stable GPS tracking even in places that my phone has no signal. This is especially helpful given that when hiking there is no signal. In summary, I think this product has the following pros and cons. Pros: 1. It provides real-time location updates when hiking in no-signal open environment. 2. It requires no application and the monitoring is way simpler than the other brands, such as fi collar. 3. The strap that ties to the tracker is very tight and easy to use! Has no worry that when running it might fall down. 4. It has no monthly payment. Only need to pay once and my dog can enjoy it for the lifetime. Cons: 1. The gps is not able to detect the device when surrounded by dense buildings. 2. The setup is a bit confusing and the instruction should me more clear on different meaning of the lights and buttons.

The product works somewhat well IF the handheld receiver ever picks up a GPS signal. I tested the product initially upon reception. Battery was completely dead on the collar transmitter (which is bad for long term battery health). Placed both the receiver and transmitter in a field, timing it, it took 2 minutes to connect. Not a great start, but I can make do with being patient. I walked away after connection and was able to maintain a decently accurate reading though trees and hills 400 yards away. Which should fit my needs just fine. I attempted to use the product the next day with placing the transmitter on my dogs collar and the handheld receiver in a field to get GPS connection. The handheld receiver refused to connect to GPS after 30 minutes. I could see the battery life of the transmitter on the collar and it appeared the transmitter was connected to GPS per the onscreen info. The handheld receiver refused to connect to GPS with the message "Connecting to GPS". Even when my dog returned to the house after her morning run, it was still trying to connect. It was a big disappointment, considering the price point. It may work well for you if you have the dog and transmitter by each other for a few minutes before letting your dog off-leash. But if you want to turn on the collar transmitter and later on the receiver to check for location, you will be disappointed.

The Aorkuler GPS Dog Tracker 2 is a great product to track your dog’s location if you live in a rural or other area with poor cell service. We just adopted a new dog, and wanted him to be able to explore our property here in rural Colorado, but wanted to be able to determine his location in the event he ‘broke through’ the 2 acre, underground electric dog fence that we installed years ago. In addition to being easy to use and providing accurate location of your pet for up to 3.5 miles, the Aorkuler tracker has two major advantages over most of the other popular GPS dog trackers: 1. The Aorkuler DOES NOT utilize cellular signals to function and, therefore, works in locations with poor or no cellular signal and 2. Amazingly, there is NO monthly/yearly subscription fee, unlike most of the other GPS dog trackers on the market. Battery life with continuous usage (like during a long, off-leash hike) is said to about 8 hrs. We just turn on the tracker device on the dog and the handheld controller when the dog goes outside, and turn them both off when he comes back in the house, so battery life is good for many days. So far, we are extremely pleased with the Aorkuler GPS Tracker and highly recommend it.

I got the product in aug 2023. It worked as stated and was very helpful if ever my cat got loose while I leash walked him. It has always pointed me in the right direction and with the sound I've always been able to find him as well as the led lights if he was in the bushes somewhere. Around a month ago however, Dec 2023, the tracker that went on the collar started to malfunction and was no longer holding charge for long periods, eventually it stopped charging all together and would no longer come on. I reached out to the company and informed them of this. Immediately after asking some questions, they asked for a picture with the serial number so they could send a new tracker that corresponds to the handheld part, since the handheld part was working fine. They also gave me a harness as well and sent the new tracker both free of charge. This was done quickly and efficiently. Upon obtaining the tracker, I tested it and it is working fine. So I would like to say it's a great product that works and the company is very very helpful. They even reached back out to find out if the new tracker was working properly. For this reason I am rating this product and company 5 stars due to a good quality product and also their excellent service in ensuring that an issue was amended in a timely manner and for checking in with me to see if the new tracker they sent was working well. This shows that they truly care about their customers. I would definitely recommend anyone to purchase this for their pets.
