  • Good knife
Color: 5" Boning Knife
Perfect for cutting any kind of meat. It is sharpe and functional. We primarily use it to cut up steaks and it’s perfect. I think it was a little pricey but was willing to pay to get a good quality knife

  • Outdoor Edge outdoor knife
Color: 3.5" Drop-Point Knife
The knife features a 3.5-inch drop-point blade made from 7Cr17MoV steel, which is titanium-coated. It’s advertised as being crafted from high-quality carbon steel that offers superior edge retention. However, it's important to note that many different steels are used in knives, for example in the $50 to $70 range you can find knives made from materials like 154CM and NitroV, which provide significantly better edge retention and performance than 7Cr17MoV. Other stainless steels commonly found in knives below this price range include 9Cr18MoV and H1 (the latter is often used in Spyderco knives). These materials excel in edge retention, particularly in high-corrosion environments like saltwater. In fact, H1 dramatically outperforms 7Cr17MoV in overall performance. That said, this knife is designed to really be used not a collector's piece, and while 7Cr17MoV may not hold an edge as well as more expensive steels, it is very easy to sharpen. Unlike those higher-end pocket knives that are often just conversation starters and seldom used for tasks, this one is reliable and ready for action. Spending a lot on a fancy knife to skin an elk doesn't make sense when you have this option. Even if it does end up rusting a bit due to neglect in maintenance, it's not a big issue since its meant to be used and you didn't mortgage your house to order it. The Vantex has a very nice and ergonomic handle, and it's colorful too, so you definitely wont drop and loose it in the woods or inside some animal you're processing. It also features a non-slip grip during use, that works great even in wet or slippery conditions. The knife is true to the advertised size and weight and overall, it’s a very reliable option from a reputable manufacturer that has been in business since 1988, demonstrating their expertise over time. This knife does exactly what knives are meant to do; it’s not for decoration but intended to be used— or even maybe abused. I am very satisfied with it. ... show more

  • Sharp out of the pack
Color: 4-Piece Knife Set
Super sharp right out of the pack. I own a skull cleaning business and these knives are more than capable. I was impressed. Seem easy to sharpen as well.

  • Shaving Sharp
Color: 5" Boning Knife
Though it was not shaving sharp out of the box it only took me a couple of minutes on my stone to make it shave. The weight and balance is exactly what I look for in a boning knife! I highly recommend for processing your wild game!

  • Complete processing kit for field dressing game with secure knife roll
Color: 4-Piece Knife Set
I've used a lot of Outdoor Edge blades and they are well above average for not being made in Sakai, Japan; Solingen, Germany; Mora, Sweden; or Portland, Oregon. I've used their filet knives for butchering hundreds of game animals. This has a boning knife which is not as flexible but is a bit more rugged. Since it is used for field deboning, it doesn't need to be as sensitive as a filet knife (one drop and you'll spend an hour regriding the tip on one). These blades are coated with an anticorrosive titanium-based material so they'll also not be so prone to rusting. For field work this is essential because you will not have water for cleaning them available and blood will tarnish every non-stainless blade, and even though these are stainless, that doesn't mean stainproof. As a 7Cr17MoV steel these are a Chinese steel that is close to 440A stainless with extra Vanadium. So they are durable and yet high carbon, yet very easy to sharpen. They'll hold an edge for a long time despite being easy to sharpen. I've always been a fan of 420HC or 440A for real utility knives. You can get a pricey S30V or better blade but it's not ideal for heavy field use because you'll spend a lot more time sharpening it. If you are heavy user of knives you want one you can ensure is sharp when you go out every time. This comes with a sharpener so you can even field sharpen it -- to a limited extent. if you really damage them you'll want to use a real belt sharper or water stones. The handles are rugged, full-tang, glass-filled nylon, too. Look at the roll as well. It has a flap to keep the knives in, even though the sheaths hold them tightly as it is. The velcro hold is long solid and on both sides. And with a bright accent color you shouldn't lose them in the field. ... show more

  • Average knife. Above average price.
Color: 4-Piece Knife Set
Bought these over the cheaper knives as they looked better built. When they arrived, I was a little disappointed that they weren’t better made. They just feel cheap. That’s not a bad thing as they do what they are designed to do, BUT, for the price, I felt they would be a little better. The cheaper knife sets function the same but for less money. Overall. Average. Same everything as with the cheaper knives but at a higher price. If I had to do it over again, I’d go with the cheaper set. I could get 2 or 3 for the price of this set. That’s just me. ... show more
