    • Great gel for my difficult hair
Size: 2.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I have difficult hair. Texture runs from fine to coarse (finer hair on crown and canopy, coarse hair on the lower sections). I also have a LOT of hair. Curl pattern ranges from almost straight to s-waves to medium corkscrew/ringlet curls. For porosity, most of my hair is low porosity, although the coarser bottom layer has some medium-porosity strands. Given that my hair has such great variation, it’s really hard to find products that work for my entire mane. This gel works GREAT for my hair! My best approach for styling has been leave-in conditioner plus lightweight curl cream plus gel that dries to a cast, which I then scrunch out once dry. This gel is wonderful for that. I still experience small amounts of halo frizz (practically unavoidable with my hair. Since the topmost layer is finer, the strands that grow straighter on top refuse to join curl families. If I attempt to finger-curl those baby flyaways they might stay together, but will be practically straight). But overall, gel hold is really good and works over at least two days (I’m on day 3 today- still have some nice bouncy curls despite minimal refresh). This gel doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry or limp, so it works in my routine to maintain my ideal protein/moisture balance levels. Also, I’m highly sensitive to fragrance, especially floral scents. I was concerned when I opened my trial-size bottle to break the seal. It was a mild scent, but definitely floral. I needn’t have been worried though. The fragrance isn’t heavy, and completely disappeared once my hair was dry and I scrunched out the gel cast. On days I’m looking for springier curls, this is quickly going into regular rotation. My other almost-holy-grail product (verb foaming gel) works best for softer/tamer curls For background: despite trying multiple approaches and various levels of fidelity to the curly-girl method, I’ve found my best bet is to find products that work for my hair, no matter whether they include forbidden ingredients. Despite having self-admitted difficult hair, it’s extremely tolerant to sulfates and water-soluble silicones. The strict curly girl method was a complete fail for my hair over the 1-2 years+ I attempted it. I’ve spent the past few years trying various products to see what works for me. ... show more

I have to have this in my staple because it absolutely obliterated my frizz living ik florida. I love that its watery and easy to use I just hand lay it into my slightly damp hair and coil my 2c hair. Maybe I need to improve my steps cuz it doesn't leave my curls bouncy more crunchy and stringy sometimes so I have to be careful putting the perfect amount. That's the only reason I put 4 stars. This was recommended by my hair stylist. I have extremely curly hair and gels typically will not last. My hair would get frizzy or the curls would get blown out by the wind. This gel holds the curls and it feels so natural. No stickiness

    • Dried Hair out, Don’t Like the Texture of my hair.

I’m really not loving this gel. I’m following instructions about how much to apply, etc and I’ve tried air drying and diffusing but I just don’t like the results. It is not moisturizing at all. It doesn’t really make my hair shiny but I wasn’t expecting it to. The fragrance is minimal and dissipates quickly. I didn’t experience any skin or scalp irritation. The gel itself is thin, easy to apply and work through hair. It forms a very nice cast. The cast is not difficult to break but I can’t stand the way it makes my hair feel. The best way I can describe it is a very corse, dry (in a damaged way, not a good way), and almost brittle texture. Day 2 required a bit of finessing to tame the frizz I woke up with. Day 3 really needed a full refresh but I didn’t have time for that so I applied some frizz taming leave-in conditioner and called it good enough. Maybe this will work for someone else that has hair that doesn’t need as much conditioning, but I am not that gal. I deducted two stars because it arrived on time and was well packaged but as I said before, this product it not for me. ... show more

This stuff is amazing! My daughter and I both have curly hair so I decided to buy some when they had a promotion on it and I’m so glad I did! I love it no necessarily for its curly hair capabilities but for how soft and conditioned our hair feels for a couple of days after! My daughter’s snarls have lessened by a LOT. Great product! Holds my curls while keeping my hair feeling soft. Does not last all day and needs some help (just a bit of water and scrunching) in the afternoon, but is not greasy or crunchy. Love this stuff!
