I bought this because I tend to sit in a darker corner of my family room and I can’t see well to bind quilts or knit and crochet. This light is perfect for all that. My only complaint is that the lillle wrench that was furnished with it is flat and the bolt is recessed so it was impossible to tighten it with that wrench! ... show more

I LOVE Ott-Lites! Altogether I have 5 of them but this model is my cream of the crop. I bought this one to replace another 24 W floor model that finally wore out after a couple decades of continuous use and a couple moves. In between I substituted one of my 18 W floor models, which is great, but the 24 W gives the most light, so it felt luxurious to have this maximum wattage again. Having taken a course in natural vision improvement, I don't wear corrective lenses yet this lamp enables me to read very fine print indoors as well I am able to in sunlight. Students of natural vision improvement know that for optimum eye health it's important to allow at least 20 minutes of full spectrum light to hit the eyes each day. Ott-Lites can stand in for sunlight there. And now we are into the season when shorter day lengths can lead some of us to feeling a bit blue – Ott-Lites' full spectrum light absolutely helps with that; one of the reasons I began using them. I gather that folks with officially diagnosed Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) are guided to use light boxes, but Ott-Lites have long done the trick for me. The flexible neck allows positioning the lamp for optimal light or toning it down when lower light level is preferred. I actually can't imagine living without Ott-Lites, hence my description of them as *essential*. Also, they definitely have longevity – easily order replacement bulbs via Amazon, though the bulbs themselves last for many years.. Not sure how it shows up in the review but among the features I was prompted to rate for this lamp was "warmth". This is NOT a heat-producing lamp. It is energy efficient so does not heat up and you'll have no problem using it during hot weather. Tip: When you purchase you will likely receive an email from Ott-Lite, as I have on my two recent purchases. Should you have any issues [in my case a washer needed for the stand was missing ] definitely contact Ott-Lite directly, rather than Amazon product support. Ott-Lite is swiftly and genially responsive, whereas Amazon's options for dealing with a missing washer included either sending the lamp back or a refund. I sure didn't want to let go of this lamp after finally getting my beloved 24 W version back again! Love it! Love it! Love it! ... show more
