  • Must have
This is a must have for doing ball joints. Needed this for doing the ball joints on my 77 Ford F-150 with a Dana 44. READ the little instructions that come with the new ball joints. The new moog joints I put in said the adjustment sleeves need to be torqued to 70ftlbs. This too did the job and is quality built. No issues what so ever. ... show more

This product is heavy duty and well made. I used this on a 1983 CJ7 with a Dana 30 front axle to remove the threaded insert in the ball joint sleeve on the knuckle. I was unaware I would need this part so it delayed the completion of me changing the ball joints as I had to order it. You will also need a 2 1/8 inch axle socket to get the spindle (and hub) off (didn't know this either and had to order that part as well). I rented a ball joint press from the local parts store and you will need all three of these tools to complete changing the ball joints. Hit everything with some PB Blaster a couple of days in advance a couple different times. Hope this helps! John ... show more

  • You need it to get the job done right, room for improvement
Basically does what it's supposed to, with a few caveats: The tool fits the original adjusting sleeve (in an '85 K5 Blazer, military model aka M1009), but the teeth aren't sized right for the adjusting sleeve that came with my new upper ball joint (I think a Moog?). I could have tried to modify this tool to make it fit, but instead I just reused the original adjusting sleeve. It would be nice if this thing had a 1/2" square drive hole in the back of it, so that you could actually use a torque wrench, or even a normal socket wrench. However the top side of it is just flat, so you have to use an open-end wrench to turn this thing. Why is it so expensive? It sucks to drop $25 on a socket that you only use once, maybe twice. ... show more

  • Great price

  • High quality socket
Made of high quality steel. While trying to loosen the sleeve nut on my D44, I heard a snap. I looked at the socket expecting to see the teeth sheared off. Instead, the sleeve nut had chipped. Not an ideal outcome, but it speaks to the strength of the tool. You’ll need a 1 inch socket to turn this. I wish it just accepted a 1/2 drive instead. ... show more
