  • Good quality tool, not so good fitment application
I purchased this to use with a discontinued KD ball joint tool. Fit the tool very well and had no issues with using it in the KD ball joint tool. The issue was OTC. The fitment directions in the kit were last updated in 2004 it's now 2016 how long has this been on the shelf somewhere. I was using it on a 2006 F350 4X4 two of the receivers fit my ball joints the other was useless to me on my application. Then on further investigation I discovered it used on more than just my model and year and is used on multiple vehicle and years and not all of the receivers are used for one specific vehicle. I did email OTC to find out what specific receivers I need to work with my application and got no response. But they do sell a master catalog that outlines what receivers are required for each vehicle. ... show more

  • Great Kit Five Stars
OTC Ball Joint Kit 7249 with Ford update kit 6731 is just as advertised and of excellent quality. Enjoyed using it, especially while seeing the made in USA stamp on the metal. Smooth finish cleans up well, and should last a long time. The Carry case even had spare spaces for the Ford update kit, great idea OTC. The review I read by the Ford Service Technician referring to the Ford Rotunda Ball joint press kit being made by OTC, that sells for over double the price, sealed the deal for me. Great tools and great deal with Amazon Prime. ... show more

  • Rather expensive for what you get
Rather expensive for what you get . But regardless this is what you need to press ball joints on super duty trucks . No real instructions come with the kit its up to you to figure out the the best configuration for your pressing operation . I 've read a few reviews about people bending the installation cups. Could see this happening if you don't align the cups correctly . ... show more

  • On a Ford Pickup, you need this kit!
2002 F150 Supercrew, 2WD. 2005 Mercury Sable LE The parts they provide in the ball joint press really don't fit a Ford Ball joint. The local Auto place did not have the rental kit with this in it. Purchased it here and it was a huge time saver. Update, used it on the ball joints on a Sable (same as a Taurus) and this kit made short work of those also. This kit fits perfectly and installation was a breeze. Worth it! ... show more

  • The other adapters were a perfect fit for the job
With a little creativity I managed to make it work but the adapter supposedly for the lower ball joint does not have enough depth to push the joint out. I had to use one of the adapters that came with the OTC kit and literally clamp them together to get the depth required. Some people simply bought a piece of pipe and used that. The other adapters were a perfect fit for the job. (99 Ford F250 4X4 Superduty.) ... show more

  • Not big enough for my 1994 ford Dana 60.
They are well made, but the shallow cup for installing the lower ball joint on my 1994 f350 Dana 60 still isn’t a big enough diameter. I couldn’t get it to line up finish pressing the ball joint.

  • Well machined tools from OTC
I just replaced the ball joints on my 2002 Lincoln Navigator. This kit is required to swap the lower ball joints. Just know, the old joints need hammered out because they have a wide shoulder that prevents the use of the cup included here. The new replacements would work however. Pressing the new ones in was pretty easy...get the good OTC tools! Power to the DIYer! ... show more
