The Oster Classic 76 cordless is very loud when interchanging blades (original blades, that would work find with the old corded clippers) there was a gaping, sorry Oster you missed this one! I returned it!

So, I've been cutting hair for a while - about six or so years - and I've used the BGRC+s before, which are a pretty hefty clipper. I got used to them, even if they were weighty. I've switched from using those as I work in a high volume salon, but with a lot of kiddos, so I went with a quieter, more friendlier clipper. But, I missed using my blades, and anyone who's using a detachable blade system knows that it's an investment - which means watching it sit and collect dust is no fun. The BGRC+'s died on me after years of use, so I saw these and knew I had to try them. They are very similar to my old pair, but definitely more of the classic 76 feel without the cord. My blades snapped onto them with ease, they cut decently, and I could feel the ergonomics with the clippers. These ones aren't as heavy as my old pair, but they do have some weight if you're used to a smaller unit, an aluminum unit, or simply just a less powerful set of clippers. My one remark would be that the bearings seem to need some grease and they're right out of the box. Of course, I'll check them out before adding anymore, but if they don't need more grease then these are actually louder than my old pair - by a few decibles. Salons are already loud enough with the hairdryers, chit chat, and other clippers in use, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to use these in my place of work. I will have them in use over the next few weeks, so I'll keep an update in mind. For over $300, I was hoping they would be quiet, as passed clippers have been quiet up until they died on me. But I'll give these a good try, and hopefully fall in love with using them. ... show more

3 levels of power but still manages to feel like the classic 76! The cordless option is great and the battery is going well. Ive used it several times without any issues and it gives a great cut exactly like the classic 76. All the 76 guides and blades fit perfectly as they should. The charger base is solid and works as expected. Easy to use and a great value. Its nice to not dance around the cord. POWER IS SIMILAR TO A CORDED CLASSIC 76. I have many clippers from many companies (all the top dogs) and although this is a bit louder than others and similar in size and feel to the original 76, it works excellent and will always be one of my favorites and kept along side my SC, JRL and TPOB ready to handle business. I love this clipper. After reading some of the reviews, I was worried about. It is lighter than the standard 76. It also quieter then my 76. So bonus. I have only used it a few times, it seems to be working great. It uses my blades I already owned. I am not sure how well it would hold up for a regular barber, but I only do a handful of clipper cuts a day. I cut mostly women. I will follow up if there are any issues ... show more

As a professional cosmetologist in a corporate, mall setting where I can work though upwards of 20 clipper cuts in a busy day, I do not recommend these. After using the corded 76 for years, I was very excited to find a cordless version but I almost never use them. The body is too light to sustain the vibration of anything larger than a 000 and the longer 1.5 and 2 blades get stuck on the machine after a few minutes. Not to mention it is quiet up until attaching a blade then it rivals a lawn mower. Might be okay for personal, at home use--or exclusively with plastic guards on the 000 blade--but not for busy pros. ... show more
