I bought two of these 3 years ago and have caught everything from bass, bream, and crappie. Don't listen to any negative reviews, it's a great combo. Only wish mine had this rod box. Mine you have to remove the real to put inside.

I noticed the drag knob on the combo I received is different from the pictures here (and on Orvis’s site), so I sent a pic to Orvis customer service. They said that the reel I received isn’t their current model, and is either an older model or a repaired model with a replacement knob on it. Not cool to charge full price for either. I’ve reached out to seller, will likely return unless offered a partial refund and reasonable explanation. Not sure what’s going on here but I expected the current model as pictured. ... show more

    • Cosmetic flaw - terrible/inaccurate description.
I ordered from the Amazon warehouse for this item. Was noted a cosmetic flaw. It is much worse. The wheel grinds and most times won’t release line or return. Terrible and inaccurate condition.

The tip section broke immediately, I paid orvis 60 dollars yo repair, upon receiving new product it broke immediately again. They want another 60 dollars for a 1 dollar tip, they will not sell section seperatly when many other companies will have a spare included. Amazon has removed it from catalog, no doubt because of bad reviews. Save your money and go with a company that has better customer service. Cheap product at an expensive price ... show more

I bought this rod to expand my options when I fish the high mountain streams in Colorado. I’ve been fly fishing for 40 years. This rod failed the first time I used it. I was landing a brook trout and lifted the rod in order to secure the fish when suddenly the last 18 inches of the tip snapped. And even worse, this caused my tippet to break and I lost the fish. This would have ruined my trip if I had not brought a spare. I contacted Orvis and of course they would not stand by their product but are glad for me to send them more money in order for them to repair this horrible rod that they manufactured. DO NOT BUY THIS ROD. IT IS JUNK AND ORVIS DOES NOT STAND BEHIND IT. ... show more
