This drive works just fine, but its permanently attached cable is a bit short, although it does tuck away neatly under the bottom of the drive. It won't reach the back of the PC unless it's sitting directly beside the computer or on top of the case. Having both USB A and C connectors is a nice touch.

I'm not sure which is the culprit - my new laptop or this player. I had a difficult time getting my new laptop to recognize the player. I took to a tech guy who also couldn't tell. I finally got it to be recognized and it installs my discs with no problems. I wish the included connection was a little longer.

The drive was quickly ready to go once it was plugged into my Windows 10 laptop. It reads CDs with no problem. It seems sturdy. I think it’s a great item at a good price.

I bought this 5 years ago. I used it extremely rarely. Probably only 3 or 4 times in the first 2 years i had it, and then not at all, until last week. I needed to look at a dvd, so i dug it out. The moment the usb cable touched my laptop, the screen went blank and it turned off. this scared the crap out of me. I thought the drive fried my laptop. My laptop was totally unresponsive! I setup an appointment to bring it in to micro center. A couple hours go by and I did a hard reset with the power button. My laptop comes back online and seems fine. I set this device away for a couple days. Today i went to try plugging it in to my laptop again, and again this device crashes my laptop. This time i knew what to do to restore my laptop, but after that, this drive went straight in to the trash! Well not buy again!!

None of my modern computers have cd roms any longer but alot of my older computers do and I needed a way to get data to them. This worked perfectly. I'm currently using it on my older iMac and works perfectly.

A techie friend had to install some software to get it to play. But so far, just three days, it seems to play my DVDs ok. Will update review again if necessary. I hope it won't be necessary
