20DEC2021 REQUEST FOR SELLER’S RECOMMENDATION The Orcish winch cradle is advertised to meet requirements for a WARN brand VR8, an 8K capacity winch. It is about half the capacity of the 15K the product is advertised to accommodate. The finish and appearance of the product is good. Comments found in reviews regarding the squareness of the cradle to the supporting tube appear to be unfounded on the product I received. No assembly instructions were provided with the cradle, however the opportunities for mis-mounting are very limited. The problem I found is one of inadequate clearance (i.e., none) between the right rear frame and the intended carrying handle upper mounting point with respect to the winch wiring. Specifically, the "blue" wire (actually, a black wire with blue banding at the ends) contacts the upright portion of the cradle frame. Although an insulator boot is provided by WARN, the boot occludes the hole intended for the carrying handle. Installation of the supplied hex bolt into the hole can predictably lead to premature failure of the protective boot. If one uses the photos provided in the product listing depicting the nut on the inside of the frame, the problem is exacerbated as the nut is larger than the hex bolt head. In either case, boot failure may (will) result in a short between the energized blue wire and the cradle frame (electrical ground) and a potential fire. The blue wire may be either ground or positive based on the position of the control switch. I would like to receive recommendations from the seller as to how to best resolve the problem. Options might include: 1) replacement of the hex bolt with a carriage bolt (smooth, dome-shaped head) however the hole is round, not square as would be required to secure a carriage bolt; 2) alternate bolt location; 3) factory re-design to increase the anterior-posterior (front to back) dimension of the cradle to allow for wiring harness accommodation. The 7.3” provided is not adequate to assure electrical wiring clearance. I've attached three close-up photos to help the reader appreciate the observed problem. Please advise. Pretty good mount. The alignment of the handles was a little off, but I just loosened the bolt that runs through the handle, attached all other hardware and then torqued down all the hardware...seems to have worked. I did not have the square issues that others mentioned...mine was welded square. I mounted a Ward Zeon 8 on this mount. It's a tight fit, but it does work. ... show more

Although I haven't used it yet and don't know if the winch that was bought with it will fit either, cause it has'n't came in yet, but there in some assembly required with NO instructions on where the bolts and washers go. Just had to guess where each one went with one plastic washer extra or one shorted in the bag. It came with 5 in the bag don't know which one it is, but put it together anyway leaving out the one plastic washer. ... show more

When I ordered my 18k winch the Amazon algorithm suggested this mount as well as a cover as OFTEN PURCHASED TOGETHER.. ...well this mounting plate was not even close to being compatible with my 18k winch...DONT BUY IT. MISLEADING ADVERTISING...
