  • Great looking winch
Size: 10K-S Pattern Name: winch
Do be mindful that this winch is 24.25 inches wide though. Didn’t fit in our bumper location so had to send it back and will need to get the lower end unit that is shorter. Wanted to keep it, it looks that good but didn’t want to modify the bumper to make it fit.

  • It's a BEAST!
Size: 12K Pattern Name: winch
This thing is a beast. I bought mine to go on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I have a lot of custom mods, including a custom fabricated stubby bumper. After trying to mount it with some help from a tech that belongs to my Jeep club we realized we would need some specialized help mounting this. I would say that mounting it on top of a bumper would require little effort, however if you're mounting in a recessed location inside a stubby bumper there are some logistical issues that can require some additional modifications. First, the vacuum pump will need to be relocated to the engine bay to accommodate the winch. Even with this relocation, you will likely need to trim a little metal from the bumper mounting brackets. Lastly, depending on the depth of the winch mounting plate, you may need to fabricate a custom extension in order to orient the winch properly. That said, now that all the mods have been done, this winch is awesome. The reason I bought it was after my rugged ridge 8,000 lbs winch failed me in the trail. Most winches have a port on the winch to connect a wired remote for operation. Problem was the plug that seals the port came loose while I was getting stuck in a 4ft deep mud pit. The inside of the port became filled with mud and despite trying to clear it of debris, I wasn't able to get the remote to connect to operate the rugged ridge winch. The majority of winches on the market have this weakness - even mile marker winches which are arguably equivalent to Warn in reliability and known to be fully submersible, like this warn winch. While the very high price of the Warn can be a drawback for some, if you are going to be using your winch on a regular basis or spend a significant amount of time off road, the additional investment is well worth it. Another great benefit is the tow speed. Prior to my old winch failing, my Jeep was generally the goto vehicle in my jeep club for pulling people out due to increased weight and stability of the Unlimited configuration. When you're doing a lot of winching, it definitely helps to have the increased speed and power of this winch. The last consideration for me were the pros and cons of cable vs synth. My previous rugged ridge winch used synth line. While the safety factor of synth was appealing to me when I was starting out, the inconvenience of the rope binding on the drum due to expansion and contraction of the line width under tension was an annoying hassle. Taking care with a cable line using a winch dampener will mitigate the danger of a break under tension. Make no mistake, this is a very real danger. One of our Jeep club members experienced this first hand when a broken toe hook flew through his radiator. Never winch without a dampener! Once that is out of the way, there's no way I can see this winch failing unless you have a head on impact and destroy it. In short, the Zeon Platinum 12 lives up to the awesome reputation of Warn. If you want a winch for more than appearance sake, this is THE one. There simply is no better. ... show more

  • The winch works great, very stout.
Size: 10K-S Pattern Name: winch
The winch looks very good in the Warn bumper. So far I have only used it a few times and it worked great. The one very big disappointments has been that the battery in the remote only holds a charge for about 2 weeks. Warn sent me a new controller but it is the same. So each time I needed it the battery was dead so I had to charge the controller for at least 30 minutes or use it with the charge cord plugged into a USB in the jeep. I paid a lot of money for the cordless remote of the platinum series winch, so I am quite disappointed in the lameness of the battery. My 100 dollar Phillips electric shaver that I use every day last about 5 to 6 weeks on one charge. I know Warn can do better than that. John Adams ... show more

Size: 12K-S Pattern Name: winch
I own several warn wenches all are controlled by remote plug in never a problem ,with this new wench I have been stuck a multitude of times and 100% of the episodes the controller battery has been dead even though it was 100% when put away. To warns credit I was supplied with a replacement, same issue ? Wish I would of went with the plug and go model not the plug and wait model ! ... show more

  • This wench works perfect in locations where the clutch is not easily accessed
Size: 10K-S Pattern Name: winch
This one was mounted on my 2020 Silverado 1500 with a stock bumper (no access to the wench unless your under the truck). The remote is very rugged (looks military grade), works awesome, and is easy to understand. When the clutch is engaged there is an audible click to let you know its ready for free spool. I'm sure the bolts were grade 8 but they did not have standard markings on them so I replaced the bolts with Grade 8 bolts. Minimum amp draw is 55 amps and full load amp draw is 400 amps. The wench is much lighter than I expected (maybe less than 50 lbs) so maneuvering it was easier. ... show more

  • It was great -- until it wasn't
Size: 12K-S Pattern Name: winch
It was great -- until it wasn't. The internal contactor is failing to engage the gearing, only allowing the rope to freespool. The non-platinum has an external lever allowing the user to positively engage the gears, but this design does not allow the user to manually override the internal solenoid. It was really frustrating when I was trying to induce a lean on a tree, and I couldn't (I wound up just using my truck to pull it). Then I had to coil the rope and strap it to the front of my truck. Good thing I bought the upper end model, huh? So, the I'll be sending it for warranty repair, which there's only two places relatively near me, but I still have to ship. I have to completely remove the winch and controls, and ship everything in, on my dime. (N.B., I used some anti-theft bolts when installing, which now have to be removed as well). I'll update this when I receive word back. Until then I'd say stay away from the platinum model. Update: Since the winch weighs over 80#, it was $153 in shipping (with a veteran discount) to ship the unit to the repair facility. Got it back in a couple of weeks, but there was mention of what was repaired. I had originally purchased the kit to place the electronic controller inside the engine compartment, but it came back with a new controller mounted on the outside. It appears to work, but I have lost confidence in the platinum level. YMMV. It may be good to go for years, but it may not. Make sure you keep the box in case it has to go back. ... show more

  • Fits 2019 JLUR...some people online say it doesn't but it DOES!
Size: 10K-S Pattern Name: winch
Awesome winch! Relatively painless install (except for 2 bumper bolts...you'll see which ones). I'd recommend putting some painter's tape around the top edges of the drum because the paint is very thin. The bumper will cover any cosmetic issues that arise during the install but if you're particular about that use painter's tape. The carrier (#101255) is a breeze to install. The grille guard (#82215351) does fit with plenty of room for straps to hook up to. ... show more
