This is a really nice effect to have when doing portraits and also for night photography. This starburst effect can really add a nice twinkle to your portraits and street photos with streetlights, headlights or store LEDs in the fore/background. Update 25Jan21: Increase rating to 4 stars from 2 It still needs to be used with caution but I was pleased with results in 3rd image of train with 8 star. Bright conditions worked better than test. Still won’t use when image quality is very important. Original review: Ok I knew any layer if glass is going to degrade but these seem to give image a heavy loss in clarity vs. w/o filter. Was surprised to see some hazy blotches that don't appear to clean off (6 and 4 star have not opened 8 star) The star-filter effect is cool but can't recommend for top notch photo image quality. I think I will send back and get Hoya that I have heard good things about. With and w/o test shots attached using 6 star version. ... show more

Basically works, but you will need to point it directly at the light source to see any effect at all. Once you do there will be other exposure issues that need to be fixed. I actually stacked all 3 filters together but still did not see any dramatic lighting effects.
