  • Less Expensive then others; Works Great!
Bought this product to keep track of our teen's driving - glad we did! We're now able to reign in the speeding, the joyriding, and other behavior, hopefully before he gets a ticket. The device installed very easily - I like the pass-through OBD-II cable that let me zip-tie the device up under the dash out of the way, yet a mechanic can still access the port for diagnostics. We looked at many similar products before deciding on this one, which seemed to be the best value for the money, with perhaps the most flexible subscription plan. We were not disappointed, and I have recommended this device to other friends with teenage drivers. ... show more

  • Great value for peace of mind
I live in Kansas City, where unfortunately there is a huge amount of car theft and break ins. My last car was stolen, so when I got a new car that did not have GPS tracking I knew I needed to find an after market tracker just in case this car was stolen too. This was one of the less expensive GPS tracking devices on Amazon that plugged directly into the car and did not require charging, which was important to me so that there wasn’t a time my car wasn’t being tracked while the device had to charge. This was also one of the least expensive monthly subscriptions and did not require a contract or for me to pay annually, so if I decided I didn’t need it I wouldn’t spend more money on the subscription than necessary. The device it’s self was extremely easy to install, you literally just plug it in. I don’t know anything about cars, I can barely figure out how to open the hood of my car and I was able to install the tracker in less than 30 seconds. After plugging it in, it took about 10 minutes for the signal to register and it has been working flawlessly ever since. The app is not incredibly sophisticated, but is user-friendly and accurate. The only drawback I have noted so far is that when the device is installed it is not as discrete as I would have hoped, anyone who knows what a tracker looks like would easily be able to locate and remove it if the stole the car, but I supposed that would be the case with any tracking device. I included a photo so you can see what it looks like when it is plugged into the car. Overall for the peace of mind it has given me it was definitely worth the cost. I have recommended this to my friends and family in Kansas City. You spend so much money to buy a car and fuel it and repair it and insure it that it is definitely worth the extra $30 to make sure that if it is stolen that you could find it. ... show more

  • Pleasantly Surprised by this Tracker
I found this GPS tracker for my teen daughter's car after doing tons of research on these things to find the best one for her car. She has a 1996 Cavalier so the OBD was great for her model. It was very simple. I took a picture of the IMEI # and plugged it into the car first. I activated the next day as not to alarm my daughter who doesn't even realize it's there. The lights on the tracker to not light up which is good because you don't want to alarm a teenager. The activation was simple which I'd recommend doing on a computer versus a cellphone. I'm using the tracker more for routes and to make sure she is where she says she is. I'm not interested in the crash and speed reports but they are nice to have too. The accuracy of this tracker is surprisingly good. I can tell she stopped off to the Burger King on the way to school. I am very pleased with the tracker. If you are looking for something for a teen with a older car OBD hookup, this is perfect. The monthly fee isn't bad at $12.99 so it doesn't break the bank. Other GPS trackers companies require you to return the tracker once you deactivate and stop paying the monthly fee but Optimus doesn't. So glad I found it! ... show more

  • Works
Love that you can use the extension cable to hide the unit and allow a mechanics pass through. Low cost and great way to keep tabs on vehicles location.

  • It forces you to use Apple Maps
Yeah it works great so far… up until you discover that if you want to navigate to your car, it automatically forces you to use Apple Maps. Nuuuupe. Absolutely not. No, there is no option in the menu to use Google Maps instead, either. As we all know. There is literally no one on the planet (besides maybe Karen) that ever wants to deal with Apple Maps for anything. Ever. There is a reason why it’s immediately deleted off every iPhone and replaced with Google Maps instead. Because Apple Maps is absolutely nothing but rage-inducing, pure, hot garbage. Oddly enough, the main screen map from the app uses Google Maps, but YOU can’t use Google Maps to track down your stolen car- they can, you can’t- which more than likely if you ever have to rely on Apple Maps for that job, just say goodbye to your car because it’ll probably lead you to a Nickelback concert or something just as stupid instead. This product would be perfectly fine except this one crucial detail that makes or breaks the product you’re selling. One star. Just for this. I would give it negative stars if I could. I’m highly considering returning it and going for a competitor that has enough common sense to add the option for Google Maps. Oh, also, great idea on a continuous charge through the OBD port, but I keep hitting it with my foot getting in and out of the car, or my knee while driving. It needs to be shorter in size. It protrudes out from under the dash where someone will notice it. ... show more

  • 13 bucks a month and not discrete
Product requires subscription. Works well. Sticks out obvious when attached to vehicle. Can’t be used on some vehicles because it sticks out too far and obstructs the space your legs rest.
