I've been using Optimum Nutrition's GOLD STANDARD 100% WHEY for 20 years. There are very few brands of protein supplements that I will use and recommend. Optimum nutrition was one of the first companies I knew of in the supplement industry that, as a SOP, invested in off-site, third party quality audits/testing to ensure that the sorced ingredients were safe, met rigorous quality standards...ingredients in the proper ratios, etc The Gold Standard 100% Whey line has always been a top quality protein supplement with the ingredients on the label contained in the product. I'm of the belief that consistency, dependability of quality the supplements that I consume comes first. This is what substantiates the value in the product. ONGSW is one of the more expensive products available but, when you consider the level of quality that ON has consistently produced for decades with this product the value speaks for itself. The Chocolate Coconut flavor of Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard 100% Whey has become one of my favorite protein powders (I also really dig the Chocolate Malt flavor as well). Each serving delivers 24g of high-quality whey protein, which has been great for helping me build and maintain muscle alongside my regular training routine. I also appreciate that it contains 5.5g of naturally occurring BCAAs, giving me extra support for muscle recovery after tough workouts. It mixes smoothly and tastes amazing—rich chocolate with a subtle coconut finish that doesn't taste artificial or overly sweet. One thing I love about this product is how versatile it is. This whey protein has been a staple in my routine for months. The Chocolate Coconut flavor is a nice change from the usual chocolate—sweet but not overwhelming. It mixes easily with water or milk, no clumps, and has a smooth texture. Each serving gives me 24g of protein, which is great for muscle recovery and hitting my daily intake goals. I’ve noticed less soreness after workouts and more consistent progress in strength training. The 5 lb tub is huge and lasts me weeks (about 70 servings), making it a good value for the quality. Optimum Nutrition has always been my go-to, so unfortunately I can't provide much insight into other popular brands. I've tried store brand stuff before, but if you go cheap it's going to taste like chalk. That said, Optimum Nutrition always delivers on flavor with minimum clumping. Don't kid yourself, there will still be clumps, but nothing close to the unbearable ones that you get with cheaper protein powders. As far as flavors go, here are the ones I've tried. Please note I mix all of these with skim milk post workout: Double Rich Chocolate: Nice smooth chocolate taste, but kind of plain on its own. Great if you're making a shake with something like bananas and peanut butter. 4/5 Banana Creme: You better really like bananas. Personally, this one was too sweet for my taste. 3/5 Chocolate Coconut: Absolutely amazing if you like Almond Joys. Obviously not as good, but when mixed with milk it is pretty darn close. 5/5 Cake Batter: Great at first, but towards the end of a 5lb jar I started getting sick of it. Not too sweet like the banana creme one, but not as close to real cake batter as the chocolate coconut is to an almond joy. I'd say it ends up tasting like cake batter that you put way too much milk in to the point that it starts losing flavor if that makes sense. 4.5/5 Rocky Road: Pretty good, but very similar to the double rich chocolate. Seems to have a little marshmallow flavor in there too. Probably a great choice if you're a bigger rocky road fan than I am. 4.5/5 Vanilla Ice Creme: Similar to the chocolate - great in a shake, but very plain (vanilla if you will) by itself. 4/5 Hopefully this helps people who are looking to purchase any of these flavors out. I highly recommend mixing them with skim milk...I can't imagine half of these with water. Granted I realize if you want to use this pre workout water is the best way to go. ... show more

Chocolate malt was not available when I needed to re-order so I took a chance on Chocolate Coconut. I don’t dislike it but it is a very mild chocolate flavor with almost no coconut accent. I’m still pleased with the quality optimum nutrition provides in their whey protein so I will continue ordering. I mix it with almond milk and a single serving of yogurt. It dissolves well. It is never gritty or clumpy. It keeps me full for about three hours and has never given me any G.I. issues. I only wish there were smaller sample sizes to try before investing $85 in a drum of protein ... show more

Chocolate coconut is so good. It tastes like a melted Almond Joy. I have a co-worker who’s a big gym rat and showed him this protein powder. He said I made a good choice because it’s the best one on the market. Can’t wait to see the results.
