  • So far so good

Installation in my 2000 Blazer wasn't straight forward, since this battery is slightly larger than the other brand I normally used. I had to remove the rubber insulators to make the cable reach properly. After that, they reached and had enough play to make me feel comfortable to run the Blazer without altering the cable setup. New rubber insulators at most appear to be the solution. I will ask my mechanic to be certain since I am not one. I also noticed remarks about the warranty not being honored. It depends on who you buy from. If you buy from an unauthorized seller the manufacturer will not honor the warranty. The Optima website lists Amazon.com Services Inc as an exclusion from unauthorized sellers when the battery is both shipped and sold by Amazon. ... show more

  • No Warranty when purchased through Amazon
Product Packaging: Retail
I have purchased seven Optima batteries elsewhere and never had a problem, then I purchased the eight one through Amazon. It failed after eighteen in months. I contacted Amazon they would not help and said to contact Optima, I contacted Optima and was told that they sell the batteries to Amazon and that Amazon is responsible for the warranty. Neither company will help. I wish I would have read the other poor reviews and never waisted the money I spent with Amazon for the battery. I consider myself a very good Amazon customer and have been satisficed for the most part until now. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WARRANTY ??? WHAT A WAIST OF MONEY!!!!!!!! ... show more

  • OPTIMA BATTERY JUNK
Product Packaging: Retail
I would give this battery 0 stars if it was an option. I bought it through Amazon with a three year warranty last October 31st, 2024. I sit here today October 18th, 2025, missed 2 days of work, called Optima Battery for warranty, and called Amazon for help. First off, the battery is completely dead. I had the battery, alternator, starter, and electrical system check by a proffessional. The conclusion was it was a bad battery. So, I call Optima Battery to get it warrantied and a new battery....I thought. WRONG! Optima Battery tells me the battery has to be warrantied through Amazon. GREAT.....NOT! I call Amazon customer service and the guy is talking in circles trying to frustrate me even more so I hang up.....WRONG! I did not hang up or go away. He told me three option in which he was able to do. I agreed on the last one. Which was full refund to my Amazon balance in 2-4hrs and myself returning the battery vis UPS. Then all of a sudden he tells me he this is no longer an option. FRUSTRATION PEEKING......I then asked for a manager. The manager came on the line and started her talking in circles. I had to stop her and tell her lets keep the train on the tracks going forward not off the rails in a ditch. To which her frustration peeked and I continued to talk over her stating my simple point in this whole matter. I am out two days of work, I can't drive my truck, and I NEED A DAMN BATTERY TODAY! This is the first Optima Battery I have ever bought and it is the last. I will stick with AC Delco and never buy a battery or car parts from Amazon. So, ling story Optima Batteries are garbage, Amazon customer service and supervisors are incapable of doing their jobs or helping customers, and I STILL DON'T HAVE A BATTERY! ... show more

  • Weird battery...
Product Packaging: Retail
Darned oddest battery ever. Had it 3 years, it sat a lot, I cranked on it to ocassionally spin over and then start an engine in a Chevy Luv... like no resistance, right? It was also used to test aftermarket GM wiring kit circuits as they went... Even with the alternator not working... it would bounce back with ocassional charging. It proved to be one tough battery. Then a couple months ago I got the alternator sorted out, and got 14 volts... and was a happy camper... the engine ran strong and didn't die from running down the battery anymore. (missed exciter wire cuz Hitachi Delco instructions didn't indicate need for one but the wiring kit did) That was until two days ago with one more circuit to hook up to be street legal... The weather had turned last month but it rarely got below freezing and the Luv is in an attached but unheated garage. Nontheless the battery went completely dead... like to no nothing, zero, ziltch, no meter, no test light dead... bummer. So out came the charger. After charging overnight It would barely light the test light and showed 4 volts. So I kept on it until the green light lit on the charger, and proceeded to test it this afternoon. No change. How frustrating. At that stage I figure I can't ruin it, so I left it on the charger for a couple more hours and then went back out to check on it... Hmmm... the green light was out and the yellow ones were back on.. meaning it's charging again. So for curiosity I unhooked the charger and tested the battery... 11.70 volts. Hey hey.. From there I tested that last circuit (wiper washer motor)... and got a buzz... that's better, even the headlights worked... maybe all is not lost. From what I'm getting to understand through trial and error, and many reviews; they're weird. In charging they must hit a level where the charger is forced to push through some kind of resistance before it really takes hold. The battery has a diconnect to prevent drawdowns, and the charger is the proper kind. I am a little taken aback by how quickly temps between 28 and 45 degrees killed it. I have a grody 10 year old battery from Les Schwab I use on a winch... and it showed 13 volts today... it hasn't been on a charger since spring... I'd run it in the Luv, but won't fit. Even the cheesy WalMart special in our lawn tractor holds up better in the cold. Weird. ... show more
