For the price, I'm happy with this lamp and in fact haven't stopped looking at it. I put a yellow bulb in it and am using it on my nightstand and it gives my room a welcoming 1970s feel, like staying in a Knights Inn or chillin in Grandma's TV room. There is texture. The ceramic column has the feel of popcorn walls and the shade is made of burlap like a coffee bean sack. TBH it was too tall for a bedside lamp (in the product pic you can see a metal shaft peeking below the shade that adds about 4". The lamp would benefit from less hardware IMHO and that would enhance the natural look of the other materials). I'm in a dizzying OCD phase and wanted it to be shorter and not show metal, so I spent all afternoon taking that part out which was maddening but so worth it for the softer look. I don't love the shiny silver ball on top and will probs replace it with a small bolt. As you can see from my pic, the ceramic is dimpled in places and not perfectly round, but for my purposes I can live with it. Easy assembly. The switch has a very satisfying analog click. Modern LED touch lights don't click! I'd forgotten what I was missing out on. It's like snapping a flip phone closed to hang up on someone. Hope this lamp lasts. Maybe someday I'll be a grandma with a TV room. ... show more

    • Stylish and stirdy
These lamps were so substantial and sturdy and they have a nice rich style. The surface of the lamp was pebbled a bit which I liked and I thought it went nicely with the interesting shape of the lamp. They were a nice weight so they wouldn’t be slipping off a nightstand or end table. The shades were clever, as you had to Velcro the flat shade material to the top and bottom ring of the shade. I had never seen this, but it must be something new, as another lamp I got also had the same set-up. It was super easy to do and looked just like a regular shade- helps with shipping, I’m guessing. But just to be aware. These lamps definitely have the look and impact of much more expensive lamps. The scale of the lamp to shade seemed perfect to my eye- but they were overall too tall for where I wanted to use them, so I sent them back- but only after I was sure I couldn’t find a place for them- that’s how much I liked them.
