  • Great all-in-one for aging health Great all-in-one for aging health
Size: 150 Count (Pack of 1)
This review is for the Bayer One A Day Multivitamin proactive 65+ for men and women. I purchased these to give to my father-in-law. He is 72 years old and his wife passed away recently, so we had him move in with my husband and I so he's not by himself. His wife always had his health in check so we're trying to continue that for him now that she is no longer here. First, what makes this so great is its a formulated all in one vitamin with the key vitamins needed to help with aging once you hit 65 and up. This is great for people that already take medication and also for those that aren't on much or any, because its one tablet, you take it in the morning and you're done. No muss, no fuss! Easy to keep track of, and noone likes having to take a slew of pills every day, but you need the ingredients in this supplement so this all in one takes care of condensing that. The pill is pretty small, not like those huge "horse pills" some supplements seem to have, so that is good because I know my father in law can swallow these easily. These don't have a bad or bitter taste, and these don't make you burp up anything or taste any of the ingredients during the day after taking your dose. This is gluten free, and doesn't contain any artificial flavors or sweeteners, and doesn't have a bunch of fillers that help make up the pill either. This vitamin provides nutritional support in the areas that are difficult for your body to keep up with naturally or absorb from food once you hit 65 years old and up. This has Folic Acid, D and B vitamins, which help with cell health, converting your food into fuel, and in turn giving your body more energy and mood elevation. These are essential because at age 65 and up your body absorbs B vitamins much easier and better from supplements rather than from food. Vitamin D is harder to get from the sun as we age. Folic Acid and B vitamins aid with heart health and this will support healthy blood pressure. This also has 6 key antioxidants included essential for cell health, and Calcium, Magnesium, and Vitamin D of course for bone health. The recommended dosage is 2 pills a day, but we started off with one every morning for almost a week to make sure it could be gradually incorporated with his diet and routine. He is now taking the 2 a day dosage and has experienced no side effects. I know that it takes about 3 to 6 months to really start reaping the benefits of a supplement, and he's only been taking this for about 2 months, but I can already see the effects yielding positive results. On my end I can see his mood is elevated and happier, and he has a pep in his step. I know these are doing well for him and making him feel better because I don't even have to remind him to take these daily, he wants to take them! So that's a 10/10 for me in my book :) Also, I wanted to add, when he went to his doctor appointment for a regular checkup, all his tests and health are much doing better than 3 months ago and the only thing that has changed is he started taking this vitamin. ... show more

  • Great Multivitamins
Size: 150 Count (Pack of 1)
First things first, this is a great multivitamin. I (22F) started taking it to help treat my telogen effluvium (hair loss caused by stress/hormone changes), along with Iron-C and ashwagandha supplements from the same brand, and I’m happy to say that ALL my hair is growing back, good as new, after just a few weeks! However, there are a few things I wish I’d known before I started taking this one. First, since it’s so jam-packed with ingredients, each pill is going to be insanely potent and have a powerful, noticeable effect on your body from the moment it hits your stomach. Bear in mind, I am a HUGE skeptic when it comes to taking any kind of supplements—before I got TE, the only things I’d ever taken were Flintstones vitamins—so I was pretty suspicious of all the reviews on this one claiming that it made people jittery and energized immediately after taking just one. I thought surely these people were suffering from the placebo effect or forgetting that they’d taken it along with a cup of coffee or something equally preposterous. Boy was I wrong. These things really do slam into your system like a live wire! Unlike some of the others in this review section, I don’t find it uncomfortable or disruptive to my day-to-day in any way, but it is certainly hard to forget about. Second, the TASTE! Ugh. I have to plug my nose when I’m taking it, and I don’t let go until after I’ve swallowed, it’s that awful! It kinda tastes/smells like a stale old barnyard. Imagine the smell of hay mixed with a blossoming Bradford pear tree (the ones with the little white flowers whose odors are nothing like a pear). No bueno. But easy enough to work around if you don’t mind a slight ear-popping sensation when you swallow. Heaven forbid you have to taste a burp with it still undigested in your stomach, but that’s the worst of it. Now, I’ve saved the worst for last, and it’s directed specifically towards anyone with ADHD: DO NOT TAKE THIS AT THE SAME TIME AS YOUR MEDICATION!!! If you take a stimulant medication of any kind for any reason, PLEASE heed my warning. I’ve made this mistake twice now and both times I wished I could just die so I could escape the indescribable pain I was in. The experience only lasts about 15 minutes to half an hour, but the whole time you’ll be groaning and writhing, clutching your stomach, heavy and labored breathing, sweat literally pouring out over your entire body, as you endure an acute short version of the same kinda pain one might feel at the peak of their worst period cramp ever. If you’re a woman then you know the type of pain I’m talking about and will steer clear at any cost. If you’re a man and you have an Adderall Rx, feel free to take this multivitamin at the same time to get a feel for what menstrual pains are like, then remember the traumatic horror of it all whenever you’re tempted to roll your eyes at a woman who says she’s really going through it. It’s just awful. I don’t know exactly how or why these two pills interact with each other in such an explosive way, so I can’t give any advice on when it’s safe to take one after the other, but I haven’t had too much trouble unless I take them within 45ish minutes of each other. There was one time where I took my Adderall (30mg IR for reference) about an hour before I took my vitamins, and I did feel the tiniest brush of the same sensation, but it was just a twinge—maybe a minute or two long, and exponentially milder than the two times I took them together or nearly back to back. The worst of it was when I took the two simultaneously, like in the same handful with the same gulp of water to wash them down. The second time, I took my Adderall about 10 minutes prior to the multivitamin, and it was pretty much the same amount of pain, but it felt like it was over just a little bit faster. This leads me to suspect it has something to do with absorption or digestion rates, so from here on out I will be making absolute sure that I don’t let these things anywhere near each other in my stomach. Am I going to stop taking either of them altogether? No! But I hope my experience can serve as a cautionary tale to those in my same position and prevent them from enduring the same horrific fate. ... show more

  • Two a Day? I'm thankful
Size: 150 Count (Pack of 1)
I just started taking these today. One tablet after breakfast, the second one after lunch. Here is my take on this product: I know that taking a larger dose of water-soluble vitamins than the body needs will cause the excess to be expelled in the urine. Splitting the daily dosage over several hours could 'potentially' reduce the amount wasted. The tablets are considerably smaller in size to the Brand "C" I have been taking - much easier to swallow. Taking one twice a day makes it all that much easier. No stomach upset, like with Brand "C" (which happened even swallowing over 10 oz of water, and after a meal!) I don't take a blood thinner, but appreciate that the formula removes Vitamin K in case one is. Who knows if I will ever get to that point where it matters. At least I won't have to worry about a contraindication if I do. I would prefer to have Vitamin E included, but since I don't have a deficiency, I expect my diet to give me what I need. I take a multi-vitamin as a proactive, not reactive, supplement. I'm reluctant to "recommend" any medication or supplement to another. I can tell you that I am satisfied with this product, because it doesn't upset my stomach, I can spread the daily dosage over two meals, and the tablets are smaller because of this. I'm glad I took the plunge on my first order and purchased two bottles, getting a small savings, to boot. ... show more
