  • The wood isn’t very sturdy. But from China, you get what you pay for.
I knew coming from China, this would not be too sturdy but it worked after I reinforced the wire.

  • looks good
Do NOT buy this item. Although it looks good. This is SO cheap. All you have to go by is the pictures to put it together. very confusing. no words. The latches are very cheap and bend. The wire is so cheap it won't keep anything more than a chipmunk out. Any animal could push through it. very light cedar and will crack or split if you want to move it. ALSO warps. REALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! I was stupid to buy it cause it looked so cute. ... show more

  • Looks nice/not good size for larger hens at most 3 large hens or 4 smaller ones.
Looks nice - Kit was complete - nothing was damaged - arrived on time Value for money = Not good Nesting boxes for hens are suppose to be a minimum of 12 inches - these are only 7 inches so you don't really have 6 boxes - only 2 and you can't use the dividers they way they are built so your going to have 2 large boxes or you have to modify this to add a divider Roost = also not good. First it is level with the nesting boxes and it shouldn't really be but that's a minor issue. The larger issue is 2 bars each one is only 32 inches long so this is room for 2 hens per bar = 4 total but that is way below the recommended space for hens. Also means in the hot weather they are crammed into a tiny space over heating and also lying close to the litter smelling their own droppings and ammonia and fumes which is a health issue for your hens. The width of the roost bar is also a issue that has to be modified by the user. This bar is only 1 inch. These hens are not parakeets and they have no locking ankle so they need a wider bar to hold onto so again this is a poor design even for smaller hens so this is going to need to be manually changed by buyers too. Imagine yourself tying to sleep standing on a tightrope. Picture looks wonderful but in reality the main components are undersized and impractical for large hen breeds and no more than 2-3 larger hens or 4 smaller hens. Even then boxes too small, roosts too close to floor etc.. I will have to modify the whole things including the run into a coop and buy a larger kennel style run so the have the space they need while inside the coop or outside and to maintain their health and ensure I don't loose hens due to over heating or poor ventilation/over crowding. I wish I had researched more and bought a wood shed to modify then I would have room for happy hens, storage for supplies and could lay it out inside the way i wanted to and it would be easier to clean etc. ... show more

  • Great product! Have a little patience during assembly and you will be rewarded.
Overall, this is a wonderful solution to my chicken coop needs. My 8 growing chicks love their new home. I am planning to add at least 2 additional runs to it. It looks fantastic, although my main purchase considerations were the number of nest boxes and the good ventilation for the heat here in South Texas. This coop took me about 4 to 6 hours to assemble on my back porch as a careful, picky assembler. The package arrived with only very minor damage to 1 edge of 1 panel and a very small hole to one of the welded wire run panels about halfway up--nothing to contact anyone over. All of the hardware necessary was present. The top vent section has to be screwed onto the main roof of the coop. I found that about 2 or 3 of the supplied screws were not quite long enough, so I substituted longer ones. I did find that the supplied roof panels for the run had too much overhang to be able to mount the run flush up with the side of the coop. I ran a sabre saw along the edge and removed the overhang. This allowed for flush mounting with the coop. I did find it necessary to place a couple of mending plates along the lower joints of the sides of the run to reinforce them. Got these at the home store very inexpensively. The run frames appear to basically be 1 X 1's. Reinforcement is not unreasonable. After assembly, I painted the coop inside and out with Thompson's Water Seal. Then I painted the asphalt paper roof with waterseal that also does concrete and stone to seal the particles on and cause the roof to last longer. Then I applied caulking all around where the upper vent section joins the main roof to seal the crack all the way around. Testing after the caulking dried has shown that there is very little to no leakage in the coop. I would advise the water seal and the caulking, especially if you want the coop to last beyond whatever its lifespan would be otherwise. Given the cost of the coop, I think it is well worth making it last longer for my backyard chickens. I used a dolly to move the coop to the yard and mounted the run to it. Even though rubber covers are supplied to the 4 feet that support the coop, I placed pavers under them and leveled up both the coop and run. It is made of a type of fir tree species with an aromatic wood. It is not treated with smelly chemicals as some of the other reviewers have said. I have been an amateur luthier and wood carver, so I have worked with spruce, cedar, and other woods. This is the natural smell of the wood, somewhat like the smell cedar gives off. It fades as time passes. I did not find it unpleasant, and not more than a temporary distraction. I have had the coop assembled for 2 months now and it hardly smells. I am very satisfied with it. Reading the other reviews before ordering gave me a good, helpful perspective on what to expect upon receipt and assembly. ... show more

  • Terrible
I purchased this coop with high expectations. It has failed badly. First of all it stated it would accommodate 10 chickens. I have 8 and they are cramped. The product quality is terrible. The wood is super flimsy. As a matter of fact the run part has already broken. The doors dint latch properly. The ramp door didnt close properly from the moment we put it together. The inside gets wet in weather, so we had to buy a separate cover for protection. It is not at all predator safe, we are taking our chances keeping them in there. Im super disappointed and will never recommend this product or company. ... show more

  • NOT SIX CHICKENS
This is a very small coop and run. It is easy to put together, but it is NOT remotely waterproof. I would never put more than two small very small chickens in this coop. It's cute to look at but I'm not going for cute but an item that is workable. It's cheaply made, locks and brackets need to be replaced. So I built a run over the coop and added a bigger coop for chickens 8 x 16 just for the run. The seller is nice and understands but she is not the builder of this product which is not worth the money. ... show more
