I purchased this to add to the M.Zuiko 75-300ii. It is exactly what I would have expected from Olympus. A nice, quality, OEM hood. Fits very snug, so no worrying about it coming loose while walking around. The hood is larger than I was expecting, but that is not a negative point, just no frame of reference to micro four thirds hoods. It does the job and does it very well. This lens hood fits perfectly oh the Oly 75-300 m4/3 lens as opposed to many third party hood that just plain don't fit. I also used the same model on my 4/3 70-300 lens with no issues.

When this lens hood arrived, I found it to be larger than expected, but it does smoothly and quickly fit onto the bayonet mount on my Olympus 70-300mm zoom lens and is also easy to remove. It causes no vignetting. The lens cap is inaccessible while this hood is attached. For storage in a camera bag, this hood can be reversed to provide a nest for the lens, which greatly reduces the overall length of the lens/hood combination. The Olympus Olympus MSC ED-M 75 to 300mm II f4.8-6.7 Zoom Lens, for which this hood is designed, has numerous optic elements that can cause internal reflections especially under certain sunny daylight conditions. I have found that this hood is quite effective at taming those reflections which would otherwise reduce contrast and sharpness. Like other reviewers, I was disappointed that this hood was NOT included with the lens, which cost it a star, but it's the only practical lens hood option and it is really necessary for best photo results. ... show more

It reverses well on the lens, made of premium materials, and does what it's supposed to do, shades the lens from extraneous light. Yes, it's a little big, but that's just what it is.

Works great for eliminating unwanted light source. Build and fit are exceptional. Probably a bit bigger than is what is really necessary. But, overall a good investment. Oh, it can fit on lens backwards where some of Olympus's lens hoods do not.

This is a good hood, and if you've got the 70-300, I recommend it highly. Hood's aren't complicated items, but I actually have a couple of lousy hoods (bad color, paint chips, hood doesn't screw on well) so my praise of the hood isn't inevitable. Get this hood.
