This machine can make a single or double shot of espresso, and can froth milk. You can't control the water temperature, or the pump pressure (directly). You can only vary the grind, and how much coffee you put in the portafilter. That said, using a slightly finer than typical grind, I have no trouble making perfectly acceptable lattes. Making a latte is simple; assuming you use the right grind, you can do it with no practice at all. Fill the portafilter and tamp the puck. Mount the portafilter (it has a 3-ear bayonet mount). Put a cup under it. Push either the single or double shot button (depending on which filter you're using). Then put a little milk in a frothing pitcher under the wand, push the 'steam' buttton, and turn the valve on until the milk is properly steamed. Turn the valve off, and you're done. Before you brew, note that the machine has no grinder, so you'll have to get your own, or, probably better for a beginner, have a local shop grind it for you. I'd start with the grind they use. If you don't get adequate crema, have them grind it a bit finer. Also note that a frothing pitcher is not supplied, so you'll have to get your own (or use any spare cup). Finally, you're not supplied with a real tamper, just a plastic combination measuring spoon/tamper. I'd recommend getting a real tamper (both for proper tamping, and for looking more like a real barista!). You'll need one that is 51mm diameter. If you'd like to experiment with making espresso drinks without breaking the bank, or using up a lot of kitchen counter space, and you are OK with some limitations, this machine is a good value.

This is a fantastic, affordable, espresso machine. Out of the box ready to go after cleaning. Perfect espresso every time. Single and double shot options. Even has the steamer/frother for your milk. Can even dispenser hot water straight from the steamer for other hot beverages.
