I returned mine. Does not allow you to set a pressure cooking time under 20 minutes. What pressure cooker doesn't allow this? Well this one.

I was not at all impressed with this OLIXIS Electric Pressure Cooker. While it does look exactly the same in person as it does in the sales description, the performance, or ease of use is not as described. This thing took as long to preheat as it did for the cooking process, which was 25 minutes. It is not user friendly, even after following the instructions. I find that there is a serious lack of recipes too....like, how about instruction to pressure cook for a set amount of time..? I used this for rice my first time. I could have made the rice in under 30 minutes (25 to preheat, and 3 for cooking) IF only this machine could be used to do a basic pressure cook for a set amount of time. The rice did cook, after a total of 50 minutes, and there were some brown, almost burnt areas on the bottom. I have to admit that the materials it's made from are decent enough, and the pot insert was easy to clean, but that isn't enough for me to like this item. I'd suggest to anyone that asked me to not waste any time, or money on this item. ... show more

When I was a kid, (I'm a senior now) I remember watching my mom cook with the old fashion pressure cooker pots with the little weight on the steam valve that always made a noise, but great meals. Well actually it was my mother who made the great meals because you had to be a real good cook back then to use that pressure cooker, which was dangerous due to their poor design. And people did get hurt with them. But modern pressure cookers have passed all kinds of safety certifications with modern engineering and the bugs worked out of them over the decades. So today, all the needed cooking expertise and guesswork is taken out of pressure cookers with both safety built in, and many press button cooking programs installed that pretty much do all the proper cooking choices for you. This cooker lets you cook frozen foods or thawed foods, to perfection and in less time. So even a beginner can get this pressure cooker and make a great meal with your very first use. And most importantly this is a multi-purpose cooking device that lets you cook so many things so many ways, you will never run out of meal choices. ... show more

This is really more of an instant pot than a pressure cooker, with its variety of features and settings. I'd never used either of those appliances before; this was my first time. And this was also my first time cooking a decent pot of pinto beans. I cut up an onion, a couple of tomatoes, two serrano peppers, a couple of spoonfuls of chili powder, and some ground cumin; poured in a pound of dried beans (I didn't soak them); and added enough water to fill it a couple of inches above the ingredients. I pressed the bean/chili button and left the whole thing alone. It took about 20 minutes to preheat, then cooked everything in just about an hour. After it shut off, cooled, and de-pressurized, I opened the lid, added a bunch of chopped cilantro, and salted it to taste. The beans were incredible! Tender and juicy, perfectly cooked—and even better the next day. There are a few things that could be better. The instructions would benefit from better illustrations and a little more clarity; and I found it difficult to impossible to remove certain small parts for cleaning, as instructed. Do study the instructions and pay close attention to the safety warnings; the hot, pressurized steam that cooks so quickly could do a lot of damage to a careless cook. I can't wait to try out different recipes in this pot. But if all I ever cook in it is beans, it's well worth the reasonable price, which is in the low range of instant pots. So here's the deal I've never had an electric pressure cooker but I finally did get one and I chose this model I truly know why people call them instapots now I literally threw some chicken and some other ingredients in it turned it on and out came a fairly good meal. I was actually very surprised and now I use it quite frequently other than that this electric pot is easy to clean and take care of heats up quick and I wish I would have gotten one years ago. ... show more
