  • Buy yourself a PEI build plate to go with this!
I’ve had an older model Ender on my Amazon list for a long time I received the alert there was a sale on this printer. I looked and it really wasn’t that great of a deal for the model on my list. That evening I was looking and saw many Creality printers were on sale so I researched quickly and decided if I was going to get my first printer I should get this latest model so I don’t have to upgrade things right away. I had just over three minutes to decide before the sale ended Friday evening so I bit the bullet. It was very easy to assemble, the touch screen is nice and I had the test prints done in no time. The pc buildplate worked ok for the first several prints and I had ordered a PEI plate the same day after doing some research. The pc buildplate wasn’t very reliable, I had pla stick which I can’t get off yet the other side the pla won’t stick now. Yes it’s level the temp is correct so I decided to try the PEI plate I had. Wow! This made things so much better! Prints stick great and release so clean and easy. All my prints finish much faster than the slicer said they would I would buy this printer again today albeit only a week later! The printer works great and is fast and quiet the buildplate is a consumable item and plan on this if You didn’t already know like myself. Save yourself headaches with any printer you buy and plan on getting a different buildplate right away. ... show more

  • Vast Improvement Over the Ender-3
It's a vast improvement over the Ender-3, which I've had for several years. Automatic bed leveling and runout sensor are standard. EXTREMELY stable build plate makes prints consistent and manual bed leveling much more reliable. Assembly was easy, taking about an hour. You may watch some reviews that say the build plate is smaller, and that every time it "homes" the plate moves all the way to the bottom and back up taking well over a minute -- NONE of this is true with the current model. The build plate is the same size as the one on the Ender-3, but it is much better. The supplied build surface is magnetic and flexible, and has incredible adhesion. The nozzle is longer than the one with the Ender-3, so any spares you had for your Ender-3 can go with that unit when you give it away or sell it. Any spare build plate surfaces should go as well, because the build plate on the Ender-5 S1 has two notches you need on one side of the plate. There is one issue that you should address: the UI doesn't allow you to change into directories on the SD card. On the Ender-3, you can select the directory, click the button, and get a list of the files in the directory to choose from. On this version, the Ender-5 S1 firmware (I have installed the latest 1.0.7) won't let you enter directories or sub-directories. I'd recommend that Creality add this to the list of firmware enhancements to make. ... show more

  • Out of box experience is garbage
Ender does not even try to offer support, no answers to my questions. Auto leveling is a joke and never works. Aux leveling is also a mystery and crashes the nozzle. If you want to be frustrated for weeks then buy this junk. Also, the manual even fails to tell you to plug in the Z axis connector. The UI is often confusing and seems like some things like Z offset dont work (you need a Z offset to use an upgraded glass bed). The nozzle often crashes and ruins your magnetic build plate or worse gouges your upgraded coated glass build plate. A feeble attempt at a professional level product but in the end junk. Update: Tried to get help from support and days have passed. I actually got the printer running by using the Ender 3 Creality slicer. However it is not for the Ender 5 so it has limitations. The Cura Slicer for the ender 5 S-1 has gcode built into it to auto-level before printing so the machine completely screws over my careful manual levelling and proceeds to reset it and then the nozzle is too high and it prints garbage. On page 14 of the manual it fails to tell you to plug in the Z axis. If you follow manual instructions it wont print. Also, my Z axis lead screw has a bend in it so in the event I am actually able to print a part the parts comes out wavy in the Z direction. Overall this has beewn a waste of time. Update 15April2023: Error 06 keeps randomly coming up, printer leaves artifacts on parts that it didn't used to have in previous prints. I AM RETURNING IT. Will be replacing it with an FLsun super racer. I already have one super racer and it continues to produce high quality parts while the Ender 5 continues to produce junk. The Super Racer even costs less. I am done with Ender products. ... show more

  • Fantastic Printer
This printer is extremely good, especially for the price. Creality customer support is also very responsive and helpful when you have issues. I thought the printer had an issue when I first purchased it, but it turns out that the power supply input voltage selector was set to 230V instead of 115V. Even with the wrong input voltage the printer ran well, just had random disconnection issues. Thanks to customer support I found the issue and this thing runs like a beast. I also got the Sonic Pad and acrylic enclosure. Prints ABS and PETG almost as easily as PLA. ... show more

  • Awesome 3-d Printer
I was impressed with how well this printer works. It doesn’t come assembled so you will have to put it together. Which is not a big deal, it was simple to put together with very clear instructions. Only took me about 45 minutes. The touch screen is very responsive and easy to read. The build plate that comes with the kit is actually very nice quality and I’ve had nothing but success with adhesion. The machine is sturdy and built to last. It has a sweet auto-leveling function that adds to the ease of use. I highly recommend! The only issue I had but wasn’t really a big deal and didn’t cause any issues was with the USB Drive that came with the kit. For some odd reason the files that were originally on it (links and a digital user manual) were corrupted and couldn’t be opened. No biggie though. After reformatting the USB I haven’t had any issues moving files onto it for printing. ... show more
