This is a great lamp. I love the variety of light settings and the adjustable arm. I also love how the power button glows when the lamp is turned off so it can be easily found in the dark. I couldn't get it to work when plugged into the USB port of my laptop, so I plugged it into a power strip instead, which worked out fine. I am somewhat concerned about how long it will last, since it does not have a replaceable bulb-which means that if the bulb goes out I'll need to buy a whole new lamp. If that happens, I will update this review. UPDATE: I've had this lamp for about 8 months now and the light will no longer turn on. The ad says it will last 10 years. Very disappointing. This was a great buy. But after using for a few weeks the USB cable started to get really hot and not keep a good connection resulting in flickering and shutting off on me.     • Highly adjustable, stable, and good lighting
I needed an "overhead" light for my desktop computer. The computer is on a large shelf that fits flush inside of a small closet, so when I do Zoom or FaceTime, the existing overhead light in the center of the room or a floor lamp positioned either to the right or left of my desk leaves shadows. There is not enough room for a separate desk lamp on the computer shelf. First, I bought an action-motivated overhead light powered by battery and placed it several feet above my computer at the top of my closet. However, it did not work because the ambient light was sufficient to cause the overhead light to cycle off after a few seconds. In other words, I could not get a steady light. Then I bought a small battery powered spotlight (e.g., used to highlight a picture, trophy, etc.) that I could glue or screw into the ceiling over my computer. The light itself was sufficient, but the spotlight came with tiny, almost microscopic screws, and the spotlight fell from the ceiling as I tried to install it. The gap tolerances were very small, and I could not substitute a larger screw because there simply was not enough clearance between the spotlight housing and the spotlight. What's more, the glued pad did not work well, and I really wanted a secure attachment. So I took a chance with this architect desk lamp. I have a 3/4 inch shelf about 28 inches above my base computer shelf. I clamped the new lamp there, swiveled it around, and I now have perfect lighting. I love that I can not only adjust the lighting level (10 levels), but there are also three different choices of type of lighting. One is a regular light, another is a softer light that gives good skin tone, and the other is somewhere in between. I am very happy to have solved my lighting problem. Installation and the ability to adjust and move around is top notch. Two minor comments. First, the overhead light swivels, but only in a circular fashion. It does not swivel side to side. This was not clear to me when I reviewed the item, but in reality I don't need that flexibility. Second, the light does swivel in a circular fashion at the base. This is a key feature for my set up. I took a chance that it would, but the illustration did not indicate the ability to swivel at the base. I saw an adjustable knob there, so I assumed it did, and luckily I was right.     • Versatile lamp with somewhat annoying controls.
The provided product image is SLIGHTLY deceptive. . . It's a tad smaller than what the photo depicts. However, this thing can get extremely bright. I like that it can attach to really any lip on a desk and easily be pivoted for maximum luminescence. I find myself wishing that the controls were located on the lamp itself rather than the lamp's cable; I have mine set up so it's attached to the back of the desk, which can make reaching the controls a bit of a hassle. The different lighting modes range from bright daylight to a warm glow, which is really cool. You get a lot of lamp for your money here.     • Brightness of the lamp
The lamp arrived a day ahead of what they initially said. The lamp was wrapped in bubble wrap to ensure that jarring would not damage it. Very simple to install. I attached the Lamp arms to the Clamp base (A very simple process less than a minute to do) and then I attached the clamp base to my desktop. Seeing how I was going to power my lamp from A electrical outlet, I inserted the USB into the plag area and ran it over to the socket. The lamp control on/off light up blue, so power was there. I turned on the lamp from the control and cycled thru till I found the white light setting and then I increased the brightness to as high as it would go. This was perfect for me and thIs will be where I will leave it. The lamp arm moves very freely, yet it stayed right where I placed the light. Had been using a inexpensive incandescent clamp on for my computer workstation. However, when we moved the and I started looking for another similar light I could not find one! Apparently the world is now LED! Having had not so good experience with the new LED household light bulbs I was apprehensive about the brightness of this little lamp! But, my old self was pleasantly surprised at both the quality of construction and amount of light this little lamp provides. Range of motion also very good enabling you to adjust it just right for your work area. One caution, the clamp says it will work on 2" thick desk or table edges. That is the absolute MAX thickness, so be sure your mounting surface fits that spec! Nice light for a great price, no problems so far! ... show more

I don't know why I waited so long to get this desk lamp. My old one had an incandescent bulb that was totally insufficient requiring a ceiling fixture to give me adequate light to work at my desk even during the day. It also gave off a soft white tinge but I definitely prefer the bright white light better I can even use it at night without any other backup. My old one didn't have good screws to hold it in place so it kept drooping down but this one stays firmly in place. The other thing is that I can rotate the bulb easily to provide better facial light when I'm on Zoom calls. It is spring mounted but I don't care that much about the aesthetics of it since it cost $20 less than the somewhat more stylish "architect" lamp. ... show more
