I'm so grateful to have this Amtifo OBD 2 Diagnostic Scanner Device. My old car had an engine cooling system problem, cooling fan's not running. I saw the above mentioned device and purchased it to Amazon. Right on the date it arrived (Jul 06), I installed it to my car and amazingly the device indicated the trouble and from its diagnostic data, I've learned what possible parts needed to be replace. This review is for the AMTIFO V316 OBD2 Scanner Car Code Reader. Tested this OBD2 scanner on our 2019 Honda Odyssey van and it works well. There's a youtube video on this OBD2 scanner but frankly that video makes this scanner seem more difficult to use than it actually is. I recommend just connecting the scanner's connector to the the car's OBD2 connector and step through the various displays. It's very intuitive and not hard to understand. On our 2019 Honda Odyssey, the OBD2 connector is located under the driver side dashboard, on the extreme left side. The OBD2 connector on our previous 2002 Toyota Sienna was under the driver side dashboard, on the right side about even with the gas pedal. Some cars have their OBD2 connector under the center portion of the dashboard in front of the center console mounted gear shift lever. There's a plate to pull off and the OBD2 connector will then be visible. The instructions that come with the OBD2 scanner don't make it clear but from my previous experience with my other OBD2 scanner I know that it's not necessary to start the engine to read the codes. Just turn on the ignition without starting the engine. On the 2019 Odyssey, without pressing the brake pedal, press the "ignition on" button twice to turn the ignition on without starting the engine. WHEN YOU'RE DONE USING THE OBD2 SCANNER, DON'T FORGET TO PRESS THE IGNITON BUTTON ONE MORE TIME TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION OR YOUR BATTERY WILL BE DRAINED OVER TIME. You can use the scanner with the engine running if you want to. Once the ignition is on, the scanner's display will display 7 lines as: Read Codes, Erase Codes, View Freeze Frame, I/M Readiness, Vehicle info, Data Stream, and Real Time Curve. Just press the up/down buttons to select the line desired and press the OK button. Data for the selected line will be displayed. Press the back arrow button to return to the previous screen. Simple. Our Odyssey does not have any faults so the "Read Codes" option said no codes. But the instruction manual that comes with this OBD2 scanner shows a sample error code. The sample error code is: "P0205 Injector Circuit / Open Cylinder 5". Very nice that the definition of the code is given. On my other OBD2 scanner it just gives the Pxxxx code and I had to look it up in a list of code definitions. This OBD2 scanner giving the definition of the error code is great! Two things I liked were the engine temperature and rpm readings. The temperature indicator on the Odyssey is just a line indicator that moves up and down without any numeric temperature reading. The Amtifo OBD2 scanner shows the actual temperature in celsius. Can google celsius to fahrenheit to get the fahrenheit value. The tachometer on the Odyssey is also just a line that moves horizontally with a rpm scale marked as 1000, 2000, 3000 etc above. The exact rpm is not shown. But this scanner shows the actual engine rpm in 4 digits. Very nice. I gave 5 stars for "accuracy" because I expect this scanner to give accurate error codes. I'll update this review if I find out otherwise, but I don't expect to. This is an excellent OBD2 scanner for a very reasonable price.

Relatively easy to follow instructions. Ease of use especially deleting codes. Saved me a visit to the mechanic already. It could be improved with a touch screen. Bluetooth works. The android applications need updates for newer versions of android but still work.

Still in the process of learning how to use the device but it did exactly what I was hoping it would do right out of the box. Detected a faulty sensor immediately even without a check engine light. This is what I needed to know. Saved me a trip to the mechanics shop. I would like to learn more about some of the other functions. Experimented with the live feedback while going down the road as well. I would like to see how other people are using the device. Great product, would recommend to anyone.

I was amazed at what this little instrument can do. Not only can it tell you what triggered the check engine light but you can use it to optimize the running of the engine through monitoring of the various sensors. The features are what one would expect from something costing much, much more. The quality of the craftsmanship is very high. The magnetic adapter to help in attaching the unit to a dash vent is very limited. The magnet should have been on the unit itself not on the adapter cone. That way the unit could have been attached to a metal part of the dash. There is not much to the setup for basic operation. But, to use the bluetooth pairing to a phone app or to print out the results requires some work. The instructions fail to say that the button on the right hand side switched the unit from direct to bluetooth use. The link to the print software is incorrect, as is the link to the YouTube instructions. Another annoyance is that the configuration to English units still shows C as the label instead of F. The values are in Fahrenheit, however. It would be nice if the manufacturer would supply software for a firmware or software update. I'm sure that it could be done through the provided USB port.

The AMTIFO V316 is a sleek little OBD reader, which includes things not found in others at this price: a bright color LCD screen; fast code reading and clearing; USB connection to print out reports (and if needed, do firmware updates); and ability to switch it into a Bluetooth transmitter, which works with iOS and Android Apps. That last one itself makes it worth it, as iOS-compatible Bluetooth OBDII readers often cost as much or more. I've tried multiple other OBD readers, including those from auto parts places, and this is one of the easiest and feature complete ones I've used. It's well-designed, and has a long cable, along with a rear metal plate which can be attached to the included vent magnetic mount holder. The rubber buttons are large and make it easy to maneuver through the simple user interface. There are lots of options, including the ability to monitor performance while driving. I would recommend this one to those looking for a simple and cost-effective device to diagnose their "check engine" light.
