Updated 5/6/2024: I made an apple crisp today. Worked fine. Cooked an hour. Didn't heat up the kitchen. The fan did blow some of the oats and things around in the cooker. It got oats on the bottom tray (easily cleaned) and also some stickiness (from the brown sugar, I guess) on the bottom tray and the edges of the aqua base that the bottom tray sits in. The little arm/prop thing is useless. I'd just as soon pick the whole thing up and put it down on the stove or something. The heavy, functional part wants to slip off if you tilt it onto the prop. You have to lift and tilt simultaneously in order to get the domed lid off the cooking area and onto the prop. I don't find that to be helpful at all. Some kind of design where you can gently tilt with one hand onto something that will hold it in place would be much more useful. This one feels insecure and unsteady. I am just lifting it and putting it onto a stable surface. 5/5/2024: I haven't had time to do much with this, but I did test it with frozen fries. It did great! I've been doing fries in the air fryer, but I think this beats it. They were just as crisp but weren't as dried out as in the air fryer. It's easy setup, and it was easy to clean, although there was only salt and water in the bottom pan. I like the aqua color, although I'm not crazy about the amber-colored plastic dome. It skews the color of the food to look a little more golden while it's cooking. Pros: - much larger capacity than any air fryers I've ever had or seen - no preheating - no need to thaw food - length of cord seems reasonable - multiple cooking methods combined - see-through cover - downloadable recipe PDF - less heat in kitchen for the warmer months - keypad operation is logical and user-friendly Cons: - very bulky - concerned about longevity of plastic dome - pricey I can't attest to the reduced fat claims. It does have 100 presets. I set my fries manually, so I haven't used the presets yet. It would be nice to have an easy-reference preset chart to put on the refrigerator, even if it were linked on the website. The one in the PDF manual is several pages to print, so not very convenient. I'm going to be experimenting with various foods and will try to update when I do. The recipe PDF is close to 130 pages of 90+ recipes. Fairly good variety -- seafood, burgers, breakfast, snacks, sandwiches, and a few desserts and cookies. You get the recipe download with a QR code that's in two places in the booklet -- on the back page and the bottom of one of the beginning pages. You can also find it on their website along with a digital copy of the manual.

If you have an oven, this is not a kitchen essential. However, depending on your preferences, it may outperform other devices and warrant a spot in your abode. Let me start by summarizing: PROs - Keeps juices intact during cooking and doesn't dry food out Heats quickly - doesn't require preheating Easy to clean and does not accumulate grease at the top Easy to use, with a simple timer and many presets Effectively combines a convection oven with an air fryer CONs - Very large (over 15"), needing lots of counter space and storage space Priced comparatively to high-end convection ovens Most components are made from plastic Only offers one cooking technique If you're planning to purchase this, get the recipe book. I could not find it on any website, so I went through customer service, and they got me a copy. It's 142 pages, so it's only available in .pdf format. Whole chicken—Amazing. This is the signature dish for this oven. It easily fits a 4-pound chicken. The skin was cooked to a sumptuous crispiness while the inside remained moist and juicy. Chips—you can actually make them! Use a mandolin slicer and place them on the rack for 20 minutes. They look brown, but they are not burned. Salmon - I thought it tasted excellent, a flavor similar to poached salmon. My spouse, who prefers grilled salmon, was not impressed. Fries—They came out looking and tasting great. I also occasionally eat air-fried fries, and I couldn't say these tasted better or worse. Bread -- It toasted our ciabatta rolls perfectly in six minutes. Of course, a toaster oven or grill pan could have done the same, but I can cook the bread with the meat simultaneously if I'm just cooking one burger or one salmon steak. Vegetables - They tasted fine, but I didn't detect any noticeable change in flavor from this cooking technique. I usually stir-fry vegetables with spices and herbs, and that's still my preferred technique. Burger and Sausage—Compared to grilling, this oven keeps the juices inside when cooking. To release some fats, poke holes in the sausage and sear the beef during cooking. I prefer the grilling flavor, but this still captured the essence of a burger and a wurst. Grilled onions -- Mine did not come out like the photograph, but I seasoned them much more simply. I cooked the chips, then the onions, and then the burgers in one device in sequence, which made for easier cleaning but took more kitchen time overall. I don't find any of Ethan's criticisms, offered as Amazon's top critical review, relevant. We had no trouble keeping the power cord away from the hot surfaces. Second, don't try to remove the power dome until the device has cooled. Just pick up the plastic dome and set them together on the counter. Third, we store the power dome inside the yellow plastic dome without using the dome holder. Conclusion—Everything it can make, it makes well. Still, other than the whole chicken and chips, we have other cooking techniques or devices that perform similarly. It's impossible for me to assess whether this technique produces healthier food, but it creates good-tasting food. I can't consider this a must-have -- it can't replace our combination pressure cooker, steamer, fryer, and saute device. Still, it does enough that I will offer a five-star review and leave it to the reader to decide whether it meets their needs.
