Update 1 year later.. still works and never washed it in dishwasher.. all attachements are their original coating and shine or whatever..the mixer works like in 1st day. And yes. It was used at least 2-3 times a month sometimes even daily for a few days in a row. Average use time is 30 to 45 minutes each session and I do a lot of bread dough. So yeah, if u take care of it and hand wash it, it is as good as the $500 brand Original review from 1 year ago: Okay so for everyone complaining about attachements losing the coating :NOT DISHWASHER SAFE. I bet they are the kind of people putting wooden cutting boards in dishwashers. Products works well, attachements are low quality I agree but nothing I can't live with. Avoid acidic foods, cleaning with bleach (seriously dude? Bleach? Yes I read the 1 stars before I bought it) and anything abrasive. I haven't used it for weeks or months yet and if anything goes bad I will probably fix it myself (motor or moving parts) but let's hope it works a year from now. I bake bread and usually I make about 3 loaves of French bread. Works well for me and I can't say anything about the blender or meat grinder since I will probably use those once or twice a year but I bought it because well... good price and why not have them if they are there? I tested the meat grinding attachement for leaks in the back. All good for now. Top where u insert the blender has a little plastic Notch. If that doesn't close properly the mixer won't light up or start. If anyone has issues and can't return it give it to one of ur friends who like to tinker with electric gadgets. I am sure the mechanism inside is pretty simple but I agree there may be some black sheep of the lots out there (applies to better brands too). My bread dough came out awesome btw. Elastic, well kneaded and tasty after baking. ;] Overall it works and I will update this review if anything comes up but I hop it will not. If it does and it stops working I will probably tinker with it and update it with details. Until then...$100 is worth it. Try building one urself for this price. Again. NOT DISHWASHER SAFE.NOT ABRASIVE SAFE. NOT HARD CLEANER SAFE. Treat it like your skin. Dish detergent can kill bacteria. Use Ajax, gain, fairy if ur in the UK or Dawn if ur rich :] ... show more

I bake a lot. This machine feels lightweight and has trouble with heavier doughs using the dough hook at times i worried that it may break the machine apart,trying to knead. There is a small spring where you lock in the different attachments which i find hard to clean out.

    • The Good, the bad, and the ugly

First off - this IS a great deal. The box it comes in is easy to get out (with some effort). I am in a wheelchair so it was kind-of hard to get out of the box but a regular person probably can get it out without any effort. Set up is easy BUT you need to either wiipe down or send through the dishwasher all of the parts in order to get any trace pieces of Styrofoam off of them. My machine died. I got to use it once, changed out the blades, used it again, changed the blades back again - died. So this is the bad. The ugly part is that whoever is making these computer controlled motherboards for this years' mixers needs to be talked to. The board REQUIRES a line filter part to it. Just like those florescent light bulbs you can buy - those have a line filter in them. What it does is to make the machine wait a second or two for the line to become stable - THEN it turns on the machine. ALL of the videos you can see (and there are a lot of them) the person just TURNS THE HANDLE to make it come on and - it dies. That's because your electrical line surges - just like a wave in the ocean - it surges electricity into the machine, then it drops (like a trough after a wave) and then it goes back up again. This up-down-up electrical motion causes the machine to break or die. (Whichever way you want to think about it.) but it fries or short circuits or break or trips or however you want to say it - the device's electrical component. Especially when you are dealing with 300 Watt or higher electronics. A simple line filter would stop this. I am guessing it will take hundreds of people asking for refunds on these things before they fix this. All for the sake of maybe a $0.02 item. After all - if they can do this for a light bulb that's only about $5.00 - they certainly could do this for something that costs over a hundred dollars and they'd still make money on it. You've been warned now so if it goes on the blink - get with Amazon and just get a refund. I got mine and now I'm looking for something that won't burn out the first five minutes I use it. ... show more

I finally got my mixer after over a month of waiting! Glad if got here safe and sound! Ok, so my mom had a Kitchenaide mixer that could not compare to my Kenwood. Night and day in ease of use and power, the Kenwood is far superior in every way! That being said, I moved and my Kenwood is buried somewhere in storage! I hated the Kitchenaide and stopped baking and cooking some favorites because of it. I saw this mixer on Amazon, the power was right, the look was right and anything with more power was worth paying the price. I AM SO GLAD I BOUGHT THIS! It is WAY better than the Kitchenaide and close enough to the Kenwood that I am thrilled! I won't lie, this is not nearly as beafy as my Kenwood (no suction needed as it is all steel and the weight keeps it in place), but it's a great stand-in! I would go far as to say I would buy this for a close friend for a house-warming gift! It's just that good! I made scones, a dense dough that needs power to blend. This mixer had no trouble at all! I started with a single recipe to try it out, I would not hesitate making a double batch in the future! I have not tried the juice extractor/blender or meat grinder yet. My only complaint is I wish more parts were stainless and not plastic. But all in all, so far, so fabulous! ... show more
